Head Unit/ RCA dilemma

well it actually has LPF set at various crossover points (I think). It also has HPF for sure. Sorry I can't be of more help twiddling with the head unit, I'm pretty sure its about 10 degrees with wind

yah, you cannot select which output will be sub, and which will be front, etc......the pioneer decks wiil either have 1,2, or 3 outputs. with 3 outputs, you can have ft.r.and sub separation. with 4 outs, you have to chose whether you want the rear to be sub (which locks it as a non-fade output) or normal rear. the odjustment on the front rca's is full, or (can't remember what it is called.....hfp effect, or something) where you set the frequency to cut the lows out of the front speakers. the other cross-over on there, lpf, is to set the frequency, phase, and level of the sub. if you select none/off, then the rear/sub rca's will convert back to full range rear chanel that can fade..... i hope this helps. so, i'm still not clear....... what adjustments are on the sub amp? just gain? or is there a switch? check also the bottom pannel, it could be hiding in the middle of the circuit board, through an access slot. if there is a swtich there, it may also be configuration switch, and i've only ever seen what it does printed on a faded sticker, or in the manual...

The first stuff you said I get. The sub amp (for now) is an Alpine mrp m500 so it has gain, crossover, and i forget the other little knob. Im thinking that if i set the head unit with the lpf off, i can send the low signal to the sub amp, and just set the crossover on the amp to play everything lower that a certain frequency. thats not my idea obviously but a collection of the past 20 replies

oh, i thought it was a vintage blaupunkt driving the sub, as well...... in that case, yes, you can set the deck to play full through the rear rca's, then set the lpf on the sub amp to filter out the highs and mids.

Well for now, I am just using the Alpine, as far as I know there is no such thing as a vintage sub. I think in the 80's, if you wanted bass, you bought 6x9's and ram a 2 channel amp separately to them
