head unit okay for subs?

Based on the stock headunit hes driving a roughly 90's-2001 Chevy Malibuor even an Oldsmobile cutlass, they're both tbe same body not sure about radio.
and for that i would recommend upgrading head unit....decent system can be had cheap if you look hard enough and have someone thats seasoned help you out. a head unit like this would be good.

2012 NEW KENWOOD EXCELON KDC-X796 CD/MP3/WMA/IPOD/IPHONE/USB RECEIVER KDCX796 | eBay

then just grab a decent 4ch amp, comps for your fronts, and a single 12 to run off two ch of your 4h amp. saw someone selling a mtx 304 4ch on here a while ago that would be good. i have two of them and they are nice and have good power. they were selling it for 85 shipped and it does about 90x4@4. iirc that amp would give you 90x2 up front plus 320x1 for sub. then just grab something like this

NEW AMERICAN BASS DX154 15" 4 OHM 1000W CAR AUDIO SUBWOOFER SUB 1000 WATT DX-154 | eBay

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

all that will only be about $445 then you just need a box for the sub and wire. i know american bass amp kit is only $32 and you will just need another set of rca's and a box. if you can build one would be cheap.

contact him and see if he still has this fs. awesome deal.

yes. this can be done, you will need a loc to hook up your rcas you can find this at walmart or any audio store, this will hook up to your speaker wires from your trunk 6x9s or (6x8s) whatever your case may be, Try to avoid cheap woofers, Like panasonic, lightning audio, dual, boss, power acoustic, so on so forth. we will need to know your car make and trunk space and all so when you get a sub you have the correct air space. hope this helps.

I wouldnt suggest a cheap LOC either...

If you go on crutchfield and find one that is at least $100 or more you are eligible to use the coupon code: 3A825. It will get you $20 off your order. Just a recommendation if the headunit you were going to buy was at crutchfield, I know that some of their prices are high, but some are reasonable.
