Head Unit Install Question

I am installing a headunit for my buddy with a 2001 Dodge Durango. I was wondering how to get the dash apart? It looks as if I have to remove the whole dash piece inorder to access the headunit. Thanks

ok u need to remove the whole trim piece, under neath and u need to remove the piece that surrounds the gauges, i wish i still have my dad install guide but if go to cruthfield u can prolly find one, u have alot of annoying work ahead of u good luck

my cuzin had was doin the same thing and he had to. Unless there is someother way.

Huh? The Durango is a 30-second disassembly. The whole panel just pulls off. No screws, no unplugging. Just turn the key on, shift into low gear (just to get the shifter out of the way) then carefully pry around the outside edge of the panel. I've never needed more than my fingers to do it. Sometimes a few of the metal pressure clips will come apart from the panel; then you'll have to re-attach them before the panel can be put back on. But there's nothing complicated, time-consuming or difficult about it.
