head unit install problems

call alpine is my only advice, did some quick searching, if i don't find anything by the end of tonight, call alpine, you have to turn on the aux function, unless you have the manual, look for it in there if your lucky enough to have it.

i think i have it on my coputer somewhere.

How to turn on the Aux input on versatile link ready head unit.

08/21/02-Press and hold the POWER/INITILIZE button for 3 seconds. Use the TRACK UP AND TRACK DOWN buttons until you see AUX IN OFF...

right on alpines website...now go do it!!!

but track up and track down changes the radio stations. and i just fiddled around with it again and i have confirmed it only works when i disconnect then reconnect my battery. and if i turn it off or turn the car off and back on again it doesnt work.

im gonna do that today. going to buy all new crimp caps, and does electrical tape around the connections hurt or help?

ok, got some new info. i redid all my connections and plugged everything back in. radio still didnt turn on, but now i know what a bad case of alt whine sounds like. does this mean its a bad ground and i need to find a new spot?

please tell me you covered all your crimp connectors with electrical tape first, second off, yes you'll have to change your ground to a better location.

Redo your ground

If they are like last years model....hit the menu button until you get to setup and then hit the track buttons until you get of to aux-in and then turn your dial to on. If that doesnt help...get me a close up of all the buttons and i might be able to help you out.

also, when i redo my ground, can i just get some 16 gauge speaker wire and seperate the 2 strands and use one of em to ground with?

yea, 16 awg wire is 16 awg wire.
