immacomputer: your link doesnt work, but thankfully, the description is still in the link //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. that song is Boyz N Da Hood - Paper ft Rick Ross. i uploaded it on the forum a little while ago. http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3537227&postcount=2060 thats the download link.

spl140.2: thanks man. i will definitely keep people posted on the situation.

edit: hey spl140.2, the first video i posted, does that sound familiar? that noise it makes on the higher bass note?

Awsome !!!! Man very thorough.... looks loud!!!! Nice !!!! Enjoyed this build.... Flex was awsome...

As for the sound its kinda hard to gather.... Sounds more like Motor noise due to the fact that the enclosure was in a partial unloaded state... Due to the fact you had the back open....

Nothing looked out of the norm.... Nice solid build on the enclosure too.... Cosmetics on the outside can be done later on down the road....

Lastly..... Run this little test if you can.... Take a test tone CD or what you may have and run 25 cycles on the 15 at low volume... That will basicly unload the enclosure and allow the sub to run in a free air state.... Take you camera if you can and get close to the sub let me know if you hear that tapping sound... Mine has went pretty much away.... The more break-in you do the more it will fade away....

Im just wanting to see if the 15's do the same thing..... Let me know thanks...

Good Job!!!! Awsome...

I managed to get out side a took a video... Sorry about the darkness.... Ill take one more in the daytime... This gives you a idea of what im talking about,.... I took tones from 19 to 24 cycles,, which alllows me to unload the box and run them basicly in free air without pulling them out.... This noise comes more from the right hand side sub then the left... But you can hear about 10 to 12 seconds into it that the left one starts and stops and start ect during the Cycle.... This way i can hear it.... Let me know what you all think...

Ignore... Is this the noise that you are talking about??? Let me know.... i did this at low volume getting about 1 inch of excursion out of each of them.... This noise cannot be heard when the box is loaded and in freq.range due to the fact that the bass drowns the noise....

Thanks! I slowed it down a little and it sounds pretty badass. Its bass line is around 35hz and 49hz now. It sounds pretty ****ing awesome.

yea, thats it.

hears a little thing i noticed today, that i forgot to post. when i was back there messing with the sub, i decided to put my arm partly in the port. when my arm was out of the port, the sub was quiet, when i stuck my arm IN the port, the sub got that tapping sound back. to me this suggests that something is forcing the sub into making this noise, whether its a loading issue (doubt it now, as you can see how my enclosure is setup in the sketchup), or something else. so basically it seems like i can force the sub to make this noise by a) playing a song, like in the first video, or b) messing around with the port. how tight is the gap on these subs?

also DB, i know you wanted me to send the videos, but i already deleted them from the camera and the desktop after i uploaded them to photobucket

ok thats all i needed to know.... Thanks for everything and the help with this.... I know it cant be a coil rub due... the sound actually comes from one side of the cone if you listen like i do.... I think its just spider noise....

yea, i dont think its coil rub either (although i have never really heard one), but you know how it is, when you're just fishing for answers because you want to have some kind of answer rather than no answer at all.

im not really worried about it though. i was pretty much assured by someone else, that the noise does in fact go away after a good break in.

in fact, i was told that after breaking in real good, the noise went away. this person then did a recone with new softparts...and the noise came back. and this isnt someone who doesnt know what they are doing either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. so this to me is pretty hefty evidence, that its just a normal issue that does resolve itself.

One thing that I've learned from my boy's HDC3 is that there's no point in tuning it low! We tuned it around 38-40hz and his car is peaking at 37hz!
odd little woofer eh? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

hearing any noise?

Yeap. It's going to take some playing around to get it right. I don't think it's making noise, but the body of the car is:)
