i dont have a sander either lol.

the sander is my gf's neighbors dads, and they shut me down from sanding yesterday, because the mother was studying inside //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif. i got SOME sanding done, and i rounded over the corners, but honestly it looks like i did it with a 1/8" round over bit or some shit. but hey, at least the sharp edges are gone.

updates in a few mins.

Personally I would have braced front to back also since the back panel is the biggest unbraced panel in the enclosure. Other then that looks very good.

Do you mostly listen to newer rap? I run HD315's and tried them tuned at 38Hz and they were fine for rap, but since I don't really listen to that I dropped the tune to 35Hz and they sound MUCHO better IMO...

well, the box seems to hold up pretty **** good. ideally i would say you're right, however, i have to admit, i didnt even think of that until right now.

i was thinking, to just brace the panel that was going to have the biggest chance or moving, which was the top baffle. definitely a good idea to brace crosswise too, but //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Chevyaudio: the temperatures were between 52-61 during the build. the glue (elmers probond) dried yellowish for the most part. the parts that dried white were when i tried to wipe it up with a damp paper towel, and it just smeared everywhere. i dont know everything about wood glues, but i do admit, i was wondering why the thinned out glue dried white. hopefully i didnt sacrifice any joint strength by doing the build at this time, but i really didnt have a choice, so i guess i gotta just see how it goes.

tapout: some of you are going to laugh, but during the day 50 is freezing for us, and at night, 37. i see people on here with -20 and i can feel my dick shrivel up worse than after a dip in a cold pool //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

brokeitagain: well the glue never froze, but can you give me some more info? do you mean just get super cold, or do you mean actually freeze?

lakota: thanks for keeping this thread alive lol

iagrdshaka: the picture, does and will apply until ca.com gets its *** in gear and fixes these problems its having. this is almost the only site i visit, so its a pain when it doesnt run right

dbdesignselite: sick. i am still however getting some mechanical noise, but not anywhere near the amount i had last time, almost seems like its going away with break in... i also found a little interesting piece of info today when filming ill mention.

casper: thanks bro. but let me tell you something....this box is ugly. i did some sanding, got shut down, and left the box the way it is. youll pretty much see a box that needs carpet lol.

OK... thanks... Ill be looking for it... Like i stated before... There is no way with a design this complicated to completely avoid ALL mechanical noise.... Its common... I know mine are fine now... After all Ive been in break-in mode for sometime now.... Everyday that goes by the quieter they get ,,, "Mechanically"......

Talking to DJ and keeping him updated on the status of how things are going helps him tweak also.... DJ's good people....

Cant wait to get 2 more... hehehehhe.....

But yea i cant wait to see the vids... I haven't tried the 15's out but will be soon...

ok first off, let me apologize for not providing videos or updates yesterday. murphy's law seems to like me, and it always seems to happen when i make promises. ok now to the subject at hand, the hdc3.

after putting the sub in to its new home, i have found 3 things (1 of which happened this morning).

1) the mechanical nosie does not occur nearly as bad as it did before. plus, i can turn it up much more before i hear any of it. also after that last thread i made, where i said i could not hear the noise from the front seat, i listened to a song that really made the sub move, and guess what? i heard it from the front seat. however, so far, after the little bit of use the sub has had, plus the new enclousure, i have yet to hear it from the front and its also a lot, and i mean a lot quieter in when im up close and personal with the sub. this to me suggests, that the noise is going away with breakin (as spl140.2 and dbdesignselite have both told me about the HD (spl140.2) and the HDC3 (dbdesignselite)).

2) the sub really doesn't have a problem hitting the lows with a 38hz tuning (check out the video with "hold that thought", that is a 32hz note. no 32hz isnt incredibly low, but its pretty much as low as most music will go anyways). i was pleasantly surprised since, i was debating over and over and over and over and... ( im sure you get it by now), if i really wanted to tune that high. i cant help but to got off my previous experiences and not want to do it, but i did it anyways to the advice of DJ and others. it could use a little bit more punch (maybe after break in? i know FS is suppose to drop from 38, down to about 30hz) on the lower end compared to the btl, but if you are scared that tuning so high will guarantee no bottom end, think again. its actually pretty close to the btl in bottom end, even with the higher tuning.

the biggest thing i did notice though is, in the same enclosure as the btl (not this one), the hdc only sacrificed a teeny bit on the low end, but had a very nice gain in upper end. something that the btl didnt seem to do well in my application. it could of been the enclousure (a smaller box maybe?) but in the previous 4.5@33 they were both in, the hdc315, in my application at least, out performed the btl (even when the hdc3 was giving me the mechanical noise issue, it still performed beautifully)

3) i like the way this sub sounds better than my btl. also seems a good bit more efficient. but remember, i dont have the btl to test in the same enclosure anymore, so please dont base this off "oh 1 guy said the hdc3 is better than the btl, so its the truth". the btl might of very well improved in this enclosure as well. i will say this though, running the sub free air, the btl had A LOT more mechanical noise associated with it. i have not gotten a chance to test the AQ on more SQ orientated tracks (where im looking for separation and detail etc). only thing i have listened to using the new enclosure has been rap, some reggae, and some Jefferson Airplane lol. i will say this though, as my final thought, in MY APPLICATION, hdc315 > btl15. now on to the pics/vids

i love the caulk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif. also, no that is not my house. that is the gf's neighbors, whose dad is one LAZY ****er, who will not clean up a **** thing.

now for the videos. sorry for the video quality. i brought both my gf's camera (nikon l3) and my sisters canon powershot s3Is (MUCH better sound and video quality, as well picking up the flex a SHIT LOAD better), but guess what? of course the canon starts acting up and will only take 3-4 seconds of video, so i had to use the nikon instead, so sorry in advance.

alright, so heres the first video. watch the sub move and you will be able to hear the mechanical noise im talking about when the sub hits the higher note and the excursion increases. quite easy to hear if you pay attention.

some lower bass and some mexican jumping cell phone action

one of my favorite songs due to its bassline

this song right here, was one where i simply could not turn it up too loud without hearing that mechanical noise in the last box, even in the front seat. as you can see in the video, the noise is not audible on the camera, and the sub is moving A LOT more than it was when i was hearing noise last time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. also notice the seat belt, there is definitely some air movement going on.

nice 32hz bassline that the hdc3 hits just fine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. also

1) excuse the rattling //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

2) no im not that fat! that is a shadow that makes it look like my chest is eating my shirt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif.

3) some weak *** flex video for skip01, that i know he's going to rag on lol

now will you guys leave me alone?

much better on rap or what you normally listen to? How was it on the rap?
38Hz was fine for new rap stuff as it has NO SQ to speak of anyway and it also seemed a little louder at that tune. But I only have some of that stuff to demo to the younger guys.

I mostly listen to 80's metal, 80's dance, R&B, old school hip hop, blues, etc... so I wanted it to sound good, but have plenty of punch for kick drums. 35Hz does that VERY nicely. I run the bass remote on +4 90% of the time and the subs blend very well with my front stage. When I'm in the mood I turn the remote up to +12, turn on the rear fill, and give my ears hell. Kicks will PUNCH you in the chest, just the way I like it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

well i thought i saw your amp mounted on your box if so i would think about remounting it somewhere better are your have that amp in the shop soon. i know ive had 3 in a row in the shop cuz of mounting on the box.
