Hdc3 not hitting hard ?
It depends on the head unit. Pioneer units you leave the sub output at 0 and that is nominal output. Kenwood for example, 0 actually means no output, while 15 is full. I know on my Pioneer I never ever ever set my sub output above 0. It just depends on the head unit, so stop with the trash-talking.

I seee that you @ben, have a pioneer head unit. do not turn the sub output all the way up. That will almost definitely clip the signal in one way or another.
thats not the case on mine. you can verify with @dbeez ; it need to be turned all the way up for you to get full 4v. output. and im trash talking to the guy who said dont listen to me and im an idiot

Dude are you sure about this? so you're saying my sub output should be turned to full to get 4V? I can try that tomorrow but I doubt it'll change anything.

On some decks +6 gives full output on some it will cause clipping to happen early you wouod have to scope the deck to find out which yours does on bens we couldnt really test with a dd1 as he had faulty rcas but yes he is right but wrong at the same time and so is the other guy as well.

It won't. Gain setting isn't rocket science. If your right now a bit low on the hu side of the gain, your just making up for it at the amp's gain knob level. You can turn up your HU, but then your amp may need to down to compensate, just because you HU signal wont' be clipped doesn't mean you won't still clip at the amp by turning the HU up higher, if you left the amp alone. I'd keep it as is if you like it, if anything turn it up higher at the amp level if you want to raise your gains. power is power regardless of where your gain knobs are, assuming your not clipping at any stage. Right now if your listening to non bass heavy music but want to add some extra bass to it, you can by simply turning the subwoofer up on the HU. Are you hearing any floor noise from your subwoofer, of course not, so turning up lowest level of signal does you no good. That' the only inherent advantage.
