HDC3 & American Bass HD really the same exact thing?

I went to a local shop recently and I was told that they aren't the same exact thing, that the American Bass was apparently tons better.

The guy at the local shop wanted like 425 dollars for the 15 inch American Bass HD sub..

SO, just seeing if this rumor of them being the same exact thing is true?

AFAIK the AB is cheaper than the HDC. I don't know if one is better than the other performance wise but I believe they are about the same..

Appearing to be the same, and actually being the same are not the same. lol

Basically, you just got a sales pitch to buy the sub HE has there. I'm not going to say which is better, but they are not the same.

Yeah, i get that. Everyone just says that the design, and every component of the two are exactly the same.

When I mentioned AQ to the guy he started going off on how much he hated their team or something, so that might be why? I don't know, i just think its insane how he was talking 425 for that sub.

I'm an AB dealer. I'm pretty sure dealer cost on the AB subs are higher than retail on the AQ. it's all about marketing. go price a DD 9500 series, lol

the ab hd and aq hdc3 are the exact same woofer. only difference is the color of the negative direct lead wires and the dustcap.

I believe in supporting local shops (and I don't believe in bothering them with internet propoganda during shop hours), but the truth is the AQ is the same and he was just trying to get a sale.

AQ is online only, no dealers. DD and AB are Dealer only, no online sales allowed

When I had them both cut down here at one point in time the AB driver had a thicker former which was cross cut rather than straight cut and the spiders were glued on in a bit different fashion -- one used a plastic collar and one was paper (forgot which was which). The motors appeared identical, though.

Of course I think both have went through several revisions so I do not know if the differences still hold or not.

They aren't the same woofer..

The AB is less efficient the aq IMO is one of the best drivers on the market for a sick street beater.
