hd3 quiet on highs?

i just put an hd312 in a 2@38, and am noticing it drops out on highs unlike my last sub, which was tuned at 36, did not. im not sure at what frequency it drops but, for example, the song "so sick" is much more quiet on the highs than my last sub (sd2.515). until my other amp is done getting repaired, its only getting 8-900 watts, so it is underpowered, but could that account for this?

my box panels were not cut that great, could a leak account for this?

i bought the sub used, could any damage be the cause?

all my settings have remained the same; the only thing that has changed is the box and sub.

also, on "hoods run down", when the sub is playing the extremely low notes, and the sub is moving but not producing any sound, you can hear a noise thats hard to describe. i want to say, its almost like you can hear the voice coil moving up and down. its pretty queit. im not sure if this is normal?

Sorry, just being vauge. But without seeing your system, I can't really tell.

But any of those reasons you posted could be it.

my sd2.5s in a box tuned to 34 hits the highs better than the lows

im pretty clueless here. i cant really see how any of these problems would make such a difference. having such weak highs, and powerful solid lows.

thats what im thinking. sometimes when its hitting highs, it quiets down and you can a hear a spring "boing" kind of noise

but i gotta say, that thing is ****in awesome in the mid 30s. i cant wait to get the viper2500 on it

this sucks. the box is definatly not leaking now.

i was just listening to the sd2.515, and its louder all around with the same amp and same settings. what the **** is the problem with this

Ah yeah,it is rated at 1000wrms but it isnt "enough" not like it is inefficent but more that the suspension is so stiff,it begins to get "loud" around 1500wrms,

2.5-3k is "optimal" for daily.2K is were they start to bang.Ur box has alot to do with it,if want to build one box and have good/great results just follow the AQ/DD box specs,if u dont mind building/adjusting boxes it is well worth the time.I personally like my 15" hd3 in 4.5@40-42hz,while my friend likes 6cuft@ 35 ,it a low end monster and loses a lil upper range but the sq of the screams out of it.Point bein u have find what u want.
