Having trouble with Hifonics Brutus BXi606

I thought I did a good thing buying a new amp but I am not able to get it to play. Its a Hifonics Brutus BXi606. I bought a mono amplifier

I am running a JL 12w3v2-D4 rigged for 2ohms according to RockfordFosgate.com. I dont have, however, 1 RCA cable for the mono... is that why it isn't working? I have the 2 RCA for left and right ran. I'd hate to have to take off my dash again.

Please, someone give me some good news //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Is this what I need?

SO Hifonics has 1 RCA channel input and you have 2 RCA coming out of the HU? Just feed left RCA to the amp and you should be fine.
The amplifier has a left and right RCA input... so its 2xRCA inputs... I am just trying to figure out why I am getting no sound heh

Your gains might be too low and you don't hear the sub..... set them to the max and touch input RCA terminals on the amp with your fingers. The sub should respond by moving a little....

I wish I had a multimeter because I am not getting any power from the amp... the amp is powering on, but when I plug in the speaker wire, I am getting nothing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I am sooo lost heh

See, it worked before LOL. My Power Acoustik amp just died. I took it apart and it blew something. At least I am getting power to it, unlike with the PA amp. Of course, it was a 2 channel amp before and this is a mono. Anything I should have changed besides the RCA that could be causing this issue?

Man, if the amp is working and you set gains all the way up, the sub will respond if you touch RCAs with something. IF the sub is not moving at all, then there is either a problem with the sub, amp, or connecting wire.

I think my amp is dead. I went over to my buddy's house and we fooled with it. I know theres output coming from the deck. We tried some computer speakers using the RCA cables and the computer speakers played back. When we hook up the subwoofer wires we get nothing. If we touch the two wires together we dont get anything. We would have tried a multimeter to see if we had power but we dont know how to use one LOL. The thing though is that the amp turns on and gets power as all the lights turn on. NOTHING COMES OUT THE OUTPUTS :*(!

Is my amp faulty? I cant think of anything else

I have a thought... heh

Would I not be getting any power what so ever from the speaker output because the signal is not getting from the deck to the amplifier (or the amp is not taking the signal since its not mono)?

are you using the bass booster knob thing? if so, unplug it from the amp and see if that helps. do this when everything is OFF
No, I just plugged it in actually about 15 minutes ago to see if it needed to be up LOL

No cigar. I just find it odd that I am getting 0 power from the outputs even if the RCA cable was plugged or not, I should get some power shouldn't I? When I touch the two speaker wires together I dont even get a small spark... zip.. zap.. nada!

You should not get "power" when RCAs are not connected. There is, however, some little idle current going through the + and - terminal that can be measured with a voltmeter, but it is so small that it will never make a spark. By the way, never connect + and - speaker wires together because you will burn your transistors.

IF the amp is not in the "protect" mode, the chances are it is a working amp and something is wrong with the install.

try putting your other RCA's (for your speakers) to the amp and see if you get anything...you may have a bad RCA, bad wires to your sub, or a bad sub also.

You may also have the low pass filter too low...make sure it is set to full range so that any frequency will come through.

I have this same amp and have had no problems at all.
