I'm a little unhappy whit the 13 w7 i have cause i used to have 2 12w6 and they rock. The one 13w7 sounds a little wierd compared to the 2 12 w6. I'm looking into getting a pair of other speakers but as i keep reading more topics. Theres alot of praise for the 13w7. I dont know what to do. I havent gotten too many suggestions for replace ment.

You have one of the best subs out there is the reason you haven't gotten many suggestions for replacement. Is the 13 ported? If not, I'd go that route and then if you're still not happy try something else.

Not many subs are going to take up less room than a 13W7 and be as loud. You'll probably have to use a pair of quality 12's to get the job done and then you'll likely lose some room.

you must have something wrong with your setup, because that sub shouldn't sound bad/weird if set up correctly.
how does it sound "weird?"

I have it at .75 ohms and vs the 3 ohm it supposed to be. High bass doesnt sound that good but low bass sounds amazing. overall the sub sounds like its ment to hit low notes only. Running an orion 2500d mono amp.

and heres the pix the amp is different thats my old one, not enough power.

yea i guess some people have complained of the W7s ability to his those higher notes...

JL claims that you are supposed to run it at a higher ohm load for 'better SQ'.....but im not sure if that will change anything.

ive tried it at 3 ohms and it desnt sound deep. It doesnt sound like what a $800+ speaker should sound.

Are there any 13w7 owners that have any suggestions or problems with this sub but me?

am i stupid or does what impedance your sub is running at not matter? if your sub receives 1000w at .75 ohms and 1000w at 3 ohms....there should be no difference. It's the amount of power that you are not liking. Your amp may not put out enough power at 3 ohms as you would like. My guess is that you have your sub in a bad enclosure. That is a bad *** sub that I would take over almost anything else in the market right now. Id try and put it in a new enclosure before you give up on it.

Ive been avoiding the hassel of makeing a new enclosure. but i guess the ported will make a difference. Thanks for the help guys and about the speaker sounding different at 3 ohms. I dont know what to say but it doesnt sound like the .75 ohm. I guess its my set up as well.

Right now i have an alpine stereo running 4 gauge to the back and orion 2500d mono with 4 gauge negatives hooked to 2 different spots. w7 is at .75 ohm sealed enclosure. What am i missing or lacking?

thanks

I know there are many people out there who think there is something worng with thier W7's but i all actuallity it jsut sounds a little bit diffrent. Its cleaner than most subs out there and it takes a little while to get used too. I have a 12W7 in my other setup and i almost got rid of the sub because i didn't think it sounded good. But when i replaced my other speakers it was better all around. How long have you had the sub? It could take some time to get used too, and second the box could be the problem. Is the box made out of 1" MDF or only 3/4" It could cause your box to flex and bad things happen.
