having problems starting up computer

u need to reformat most likely, that normally happens when alot of shit gets on your hard drive and no defragging takes place, a computer needs to be taken care of to keep running with no problems just like a car or house.

Shut up. I have never defragged my desktop, and it runs great. Been 2+ years with over 7TB going in/out of the hard drives. It was most likely a problem with the logon process, which will cause it to stop responding, and not recover itself. That'll usually throw out a BSoD, but it's not uncommon for it to just sit there.

That's cool he fixed it for free. I'd say nod32 also, or kaspersky.

hey guys i had it taken to a shop that does repairs and he said reason this is happening is because there are 17 viruses(sp) which surprised me since i have avg and spybot and do daily scans on each..any ways he fixed it for me for no charge and everything is back to new..he told me that avg is garbage and to go with norton any suggestions for a really good virus control?

AVG is ok........... Free AVG is shit. But if you're gonna buy it, you may as well get a better one.

It depends on who you ask, but I like nod32 or Symantec corporate edition.

NOD32 is great and to answer why you might be surprised you had that many viruses is because Spybot just searches for ways people will attack your PC such as trojans, spyware, etc. AVG is free and just blows in helping protect unless its the most common virus out. Like others have said NOD32, Im running and its fine along with ZA and spybot.. I think Im pretty clean but havent been tested at a clinic in a while
