Hey Everyone whats Up Im a long time lurker First time poster

Recently I Have been having issues With My Amp & I cannot fix it

The amp keeps cutting out on me I just replaced it today witha new 1 but same problem so i dont know whta it could be

Heres what i have

2x12" Mtx 5512-04 Subs 300rms each

1 Alpine Mono Amplifier (MRP-M1000)

running from a Pioneer deck

with a T-harness in a 06 impala

The amp is getting very warm & it starts to cut off

Im am very frustrated as the subs are new as well as the amp & best buy said the wiring is fine

What Could the problem be?

Are they single or dual voice coil woofers?

Is your gain set accordingly?

Are you on a stock electrical? I dont see it being that big of an issue on 1k rms, but it could be.

Sounds like you're either running the amplifier at too low of an impedance or you're clipping the amp out.

im very bad with termanology so you have to forgive me

I Got it installed at Best Buy

On The Box It says the subs are single coil

I had a previous amp that was find for 2 years with no issues

Then it started crapping out on me

I Went To Best Buy to check the wiring they said it was fine

then i replaced my old subs

What Is Impedence?

I dont understand why all of a sudden the last 2 months this issue has came up when the last 2 years i never had a problem

But the issue keeps happening

So you put in new subs and all of a sudden poof - not working right?

Impedance - Single or Dual Voice Coil 4ohm woofers. Impedance is the ohmload on the amplifier. For example - two Single 4ohm subwoofers wire to a 2ohm load. Are the subs you have single voice coil 4ohm? I would assume so from what you've said.

First off Thanks for Youe Help I really appreciate I very ignorant when it comes to these things so you have to be patient with me please

The sub was working fine for like 30 minutes then it cut out

I turned the subs off from the deck & turned them back on 15 minutes later

Then it started working & counting out every 20-25 seconds

I went to check the amp it still had a blue light but it was buring hot I could have burnt my hand on it

The subs are single coil 4 ohm yes I mentioned that to the installer as well

Sounds like you're running the amplifier at too low of an ohmload.

Go and take one of your speakers out of the box, see if it is Single or Dual voicecoil and what Ohmload each coil is.

We can further help you from there, possibly.

The problem started with my old subs & amp

I replaced the subs & amp with new ones but same issue

Its a single coil 4ohm

Do You believe it has anything to with

1)T-harness

2)to much heat in trunk I dont have fold down seats & it gets very warm

3)incorrect wiring set up?

I am very upset because i have had this issue for awhile now & cant seem to resolve it

All i can tell you is if its your running it with 2 single 4ohm woofers that running your amp at 2ohm . does your headlights dim at night and whats the max watts your amp running at peak anything over 1600 watts peak needs the big 3 upgrade. do a google search on the big three and you'll see what i mean. i would suggest if you find you need more power just adding a kinetik battery to your system. i have a few and love them

Rather then smoking amps and probably damaging subs, call Alpine!

Who knows more about there products then them?

It's amazing how many people go round and round, blow there $hit up or run it under brutal conditions until it's nearly dead and then get 15 differant opinions from 15 differanrt people.

Call Alpine, tell them what product you have (yes, all the details such amp model number, subwoofer type and impedance, wire, radio...), tell them what it's been doing and they will help.

It would help to be at BB when you call Alpine because they will likely ask questions that you may not have the answers or equipment to measure with.
