Handtools

Depends on what type of handtool your talking about, if its automotive stuff... Snap-on, anything concrete is Hilti, etc, etc.
snap on makes good stuff, but really expensive. i priced out a 1/2 inch rachet from them, it was 3 times more expensive than a matercraft one.

i would like to own all snap on tools, but for the $$$ i'll stick to what i got.

craftsman lifetime warranty ftw
Craftsman is far from being the only hand-tool manufacturer who offers a lifetime warranty on their products.

Snap-On, Mac, the Kobalt line of tools sold through Lowes, the Husky-branded stuff sold at Home Depot, etc etc etc all carry a lifetime warranty.

Shoot - I think Auto Zone even has their own in-house brand of lifetime warrantied handtools now!

As to the actual question, though, it would be hard to say who actually makes the best tools. It's going to be a very subjective thing.

Personally I like Craftsman simply for the ease of replacing anything that's broken. You don't need a receipt, any sort of proof of purchase or anything like that. All you need is a Sears and a Sears employee with a pulse so they can work the register when you go in to make your exchange of a broken tool for a new one.

Recently I have used quite a few Kobalt hand tools and was very impressed with their overall quality. I heard a rumor that they are made by Snap-On for Kobalt. I also own a several hundred piece set of Craftsman tools...their decent not the best by far but good for the money. Klein also makes very good tools about as pricey as Snap-On though.

does it help that i get it at about 75% off?? lol

I was talking automotive. I have a Craftsman roll away, with mostly Craftsman tools, but I do have a few Snap-Ons:

Snap On tools I own

1/4" metric ratchet set

Two click type torque wrenches

one Torquometer

3/8" ratchet

1/2" breaker bar

shot filled mallet

various screwdrivers

I really like Snap On tools and they have a lifetime warranty, but they're really expensive and I guess you have to track down one of their trucks to get warranty service???
