Half-Life 2 Problems

My brother bought it yesterday. Steam seems to work. I wish Steam wasn't apart of Sierra. My brother reset all the firewall settings etc last night which has become a huge mess cuz every 2secs it says "Permit or block" for everything little thing

Anyways, it gets to preparing to launch Half-Life 2...then that screen goes away, hl2.exe is running but the game never starts. So in other words the program is running in background but once it does that I can not turn off, restart, or log off my current computer. I have to hold down the power button.

Anyone know how to fix this? I will prolly uninstall and reinstall it.

umm, cntrl+alt+delete? satopt he process?

go into your anti-virus software and disable auto protect? go into the anti-virus software and put it in your permit for the worm protection? theres a myriad of ways to permit that program.

turn off auto protect when you play, that also works. remember all you have to do is add in hl2.exe into your permit list for you anti virus software. should be in the options menu under either firewall or worm protection

no..My bro is home on fall break today and tomorrow so I will reinstall it tomorrow/Wednesday once he's gone.

And I cant crtl+alt+del and end hl2.exe....as azn stated...my comp wont end the process and I cant log off/sign off/shut down or anything once I started Steam and HL2 starts...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

dude, all you have to do is add HL2 into your programs to permit in your anti viral software, thats all.
