For a very long time, I've been wanting to run my Rainbow SLC's active. I have the Alpine iva-d300 and could add on a processor. However, I'd still likely get a more powerful and newer amp shortly after the processor (2 months or so). I currently have an Alpine mrp-f240 that's been kickin for well over 2 years. I'm just not sure that 40w rms x 4 would be enough to get some solid SQ up front. Right now I have them bridged @ 100w rms and they sound reeeeeeeeeeally nice.
I would need an amp that would allow me to have a bandpassable rear input if I don't get the processor first. As far as choices go, I really like the Zed Draconia line but the cost is kind of steep. I believe I saw something about Soundstream being a good amp as well. I'd like some suggestions on some good 4-channel amps that can give me upwards of 70w rms x 4. I'd like to stay under $300 too.
As for the processor: I'd likely try to get it from a classifieds section in a car audio forum. I've seen some going for $200 or so, and I could swing that.
Ultimately, I will have an active setup, I'm just not sure how I want to get there. Would it be a more viable solution to get a 4-channel bandpassable amp first, or the processor first?
