H/U is last piece to buy; Skeptical about Pioneer now!

I know alot of you have seen my picture threads as all of my equipment piles up in my basement. Well, the H/U is the last piece to the puzzle. I had my heart set on the 880 or 780, but have been reading about a TON of problems with them not just here, but all over the internet. I'm looking for alternatives. My current H/U is a Pioneer 9300, and I love that thing to death.

I need the ability to run active in the new H/U. I would like time alignment, and really like the graphic equalizer over the parametric.

My speakers are Kicker SS comps which will be powered by a 650.4. Subs are 12W6V2's powered by a 1000.1.

I know the new Alpines ****. I have played around with an Eclipse CD7000, and really didn't like the feel of it or the way the menus were set up. I'd like to keep all processing on the H/U, so no external TA/X-over boxes. I don't think JVC or Kenwood have a deck out that can do everything I want. I like the older Alpines alot, but I'm really skeptical to buy used, as I will probably use the H/U I buy for at least 2-3 years, preferably more. The screen on my 9300 began to die after about 2 1/2 years of usage.

I've searched a lot but haven't been able to get a feel for what I should be looking at.

dare i say a new sony? they're very inexpensive by comparison. some of the upper models have 7band EQ (not EQ3 which is just like pioneers EEQ -> parametric), dynamic soundstage organization, 24bit DAC, 3 sets of pre-outs one non-fading with separate xovers, aux input, remote and 120db SN ratio on CD player. pretty impressive IMO for ~$140 on onlinecarstereo.com

I really like the 9835 a lot. How is the glide touch on the 9855? Any other differences besides that?

Also, like I said, used scares me a little. How long a lifespan can I expect to get out of one of these?

along with anyone w/ any F1 stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i personally wouldn't touch the 9855, that glidetouch thing is horrendous

I tried out Pioneer for the first time,(880), and just got it back with whatever fix they do for the grounding noise issue. I'm sure it will work fine now....but as far as I'm concerned the fix wether done youself,(very ghetto), or factory fix, is a problem. Should have stuck with Alpine, or looked elsewere. I will next time for sure.....and if I have any more problems that 880 will go cheap...

I agree, my friend bought one and had it for a week and it drove him crazy. The dealer swapped it for another H/U. I played with it for a while and didn't like it, it seemed too touchy.
