good idea. How did jumping your car kill the alternator? Did it over work it and it got hot?

See what had happen....

I was drunk and had the radio going. I was overconfident in my batteries and it died. Had to jump start it and that was that. Ended up swapping the stocker back in at 6am the next morning in my drawz so I could go to work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Edit: Nope, didn't get hot. I think I killed the regulator.

WOW. That really *****. It makes sense though. It should be a lot of stress on the alt to charge up 3 dead batteries.

There is only 1 battery now. I can't change my sig without severely modifying it. I have the stock alt with a G31 blue top in the trunk. Alpine 6x9s are out. Soundstream 6x8s up front now. CD changer is out.

Didn't read page two, but have you found out how much to repair the excessive? And don't know what your draw is, but he may be able to upgrade that one while it's in for repairs. But for $100, I'd get it anyway and either flip it or keep it for a spare.

Well that is even scarier then. Now I know why dominick kept telling me to make sure you have your battery charged before you start the alternator...had no idea it would be that devastating.

Meh, it had lived a good life. I wasn't surprised when it died.

FWIW, no I have not looked into getting the EA fixed. I'm lazy. Buying the Iraggi will let me put it off a little longer lol.

Nothing wrong with a stock case alt. For some vehicles the only way to go bigger then a rewind in a stock case to have one machined. DC did a 390xp that bolted on in place of the AC on my mini van. And yes you pay a premium for that stuff.

I can understand why some people wpuld want a custom machined case.

Your lucky. Dc said they couldn't help me out with my jetta. Guess they don't touch foreign cars with custom installs

Since when is a stock case/stock pulley alt beautiful. Looks like a POS honestly and yes I know the internals are what matters....

OP call Nate and EA and see how much to fix your alt and then go from there.

Dc power are beautiful as it gets, but you get way more for your money with Iraggi.

Dc was 655 shipped for a 270 for me.

Iraggi was 520 for a 320 amp for me.

I don't care about a pretty alt that no one sees.

But its not for a 99-04 chevy. My car is a jetta. The alternator I bought from iraggi had similar mounting points for alt bracket on my car. Which is why I bought it. Also it is the largest case alternator they make is for tahoes and suburbans.

especially on your Subaru. Isn't the alternator tucked away on the side?

What I'm saying is you used a 99-04 chevy alt anyways. I would have asked for that specifically and not told them it was for a jetta.
