H.I.D. light choice?

so the light itself is still a white light.... but the sheild looks red?.... i feel like it would emit a red light... u have any pics?

Been running DDM's in 3 diff cars for 4-5 years now without any issues. Haven't even had a buld burn out yet.

4300k 55watt is the brightest light you can get, pure white and very good for actually seeing the road.

4300k~ will put out the best light without that yellow look, 6k is a bit bluer but not as bright. Anything past 6k is useless.
My car came stock w/ 4300k and switched to 6k. When they kick the bucket I have a set of 4300's that'll go back in.

And kudos to you for not being one of those douchebags that put hids in hologen housings.
HID's in halogen housings can work fine if you don't have a projector kit available. Simple as spending 5 minutes to readjust the headlights so you don't blind people. Just realized I added 3 batts in the trunk a while ago and haven't reaimed them, no wonder I get flashed the brights sometimes.

4300k in the wifey's, brightest of them all. 6k in both of my vehicles. All are 55watt. Once mine burn out I'll get 4300's. 6k has a slight blue tint with 55watt ballasts, but for sure isn't as pure white or bright as the 4300's.

Would never mess with 8k since I need them to see, not look cool LOL

yea and i figure 6k with 35w is even more blue

All of my lights are 6k. the xentec fogs are a bit bluer than my other 6k leds and 6k lows. I think it looks nice! I'm sure people hate me though when i'm driving at them.

Regarding color choice and the trade-off for safety, 5K is your best choice for headlights if you only care about improved safety. Personally, I have a 5K 9006 can-bus kit. I drive at night on rural 2-lane highways with deer crossing the road. The pure white light from 5K was recommended by Racesport.

Not to offend you, but the beemers are not the only ones with "angel eyes". In fact, I think the newer Camaro looks alot more meaner and nicer with them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
But as I said, not to offend anyone. Just my thought //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Yeah your right they do have rings....They obviously stole the design from BMW as everyone knows that have been using the corona ring lighting technology since the late 90's.

It only took Chevrolet 10-15 yrs to rip off the cosmetic lighting design //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

An OEM Manufacturer putting a ring in a production vehicle is a totally different story than someone buying a cheap Chinese housing off Ebay and bolting it on their.....Ford, Dodge Ram, Honda Civic, Mitsubishi Galant ect.

And I agree they do look hot on that new Camaro with the only the two rings and not the 4 like Bimmers have.

I'm sure the engineers said lets use lighting to accentuate the front end to add an aggressive looks and they said oh yeah BMW has accomplished this for 10+ years on 3,5,7,and x Series lets put a ring in there. It's always going to be easier to rip off someone else's design than think of something new.

I've put 6000Ks in my Grand Prix with the stock housings. I've darkened the lenses, but to be honest, I didn't really have to. Many of the douchebags you guys are referring to are the ones who don't realize that a light that bright doesn't require near the aim that a halogen does. My lights are aimed to the point where they almost can't get any lower, and I rarely get flashed. However, I still have plenty of light output, even more than my stock halogens put out. Aiming is a huge part in the perception of other drivers, and if your headlights are aimed correctly, they shouldn't blind other drivers, even with HIDs. Like I said, I've got 6000Ks, so they're pretty bright.

Anyway, I purchased a plug and play kit from MotorFiend.com, it was a very easy install and I'm really happy with the output. I only purchased the low-beams, though. My lows give me just about as much output as my brights, even being aimed as low as they are. Brights are a waste of money, IMHO. You've got to wait for them to warm up every time you turn them on, and by the time that happens, there's usually a car coming along so you'll have to turn them off again.
