you'd be amazed at how many people dont know about torrents and such

im probably the only one in my family who knows about it, very few of my friends do it.

It happened all the time in my old neighborhood. It would be Mexicans selling them though. most of the time the owners/managers of the shops that they did it in front of would not care. I think sometimes they actually condoned it.
