yes how do i find out what wire is my ground wire for my car , i have a old 90 mustang and the colors are not the same as the new radios , is there an instrument for finding which wire is grounded i know about lead wires and power leads, but im not sure bout ground i thought it was blac k but that wire was use for ignition for this other radio i had , im lost

You don't neccessarily have to use the car wire for a ground wire. You can just wire the ground to a piece of metal that is grounded already. But if you insist on using the wire, buy a stereo connecting harness that you just plug into your car and into the radio.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

If you had a volt/ohm meter you could ground one lead to a known ground source such as the chassis or any metallic object fastened to the car and take the other lead and probe the wires if you read voltage on the DC volt scale then it is a Power Wire.If it reads a 0 ohm short in the ohm scale then you would indeed have a good ground and that would be the ground wire.
