ground wire and postive wire question

I just got done speaking with a friend from work well i just got done reading his email anyways lol. He was telling me i should have my ground wire be the same size as my postive wire is that true my ground is 8 ga? And he said he does not like that im running 4 ga wire to a block that has i think 10 ga to my amp he said that is not good. is this true cuz he and u guys are really looking out for me he looked over my car and said its not to bad its just with such a low rms system he cant understand the drops. thanks guys i cant wait to give the big 3 a try i got all the wires im gona use 2 ga my brother friend gave me like 10 + feet of it for free.

You may be alright with that power wire, but bigger = better. The larger the wire, the less the voltage drops. And your ground should always be the same size as your power wire. Big 3 will help your voltage as well.

That 10 ga is a no-no unless you are running only a few hundred watts. I hope you have everything fused properly as well.

i have the 4 ga to the block with 2 10 ga wire ran i only have one amp running right now. i have a good ground he said with gold connecters for my ground. I have the 8 ga ground to my cap then to my amp. Same for my postive. i have a 2 30 amp fusses on my block one 30 for each amp . under the hood i think its like 120 or somthing like that

You should be okay then. Do the Big 3 and ditch the capacitor.

Might i add after seeing a utube video . It was about grounding your amp the right way. The kid said not to use a seatbelt bolt well i did it is in the back of my car is that a bad spot i have to leads with gold connecters coming of that spot?all so from my ground spot the wire to my cap is about a foot and a half long then it goes another foot to my amp

I have heard this as well, and often I have grounded to the seat belt bolt and not had any problems. As long as you have your ring terminal on a shiny piece of metal, you should be alright.

Edit: you can leave your cap, but that only hurts your electrical system, not help it.
