Ground to switch

correct me if I'm wrong. It's a safety feature alpine has that doesn't allow you to play dvd's unless your car's e brake is enabled. The switch that you wire up to the ebrake with the switch will toggle it on to bypass that safety feature.

so it other words... no ebrake switch, no watching dvd's while your car is driving.

Agree!

yes i believe that to be true as well. but mine doesn't play dvds. it just an older model that im trying to hook the harmon kardon drive & play to so i can have good sound quality for my ipod. it runs through the cd port.

ok i went and bought a standard toggle swtich. it has 2 wires running from it. i hooked one to the pink/black wire the the other to a ground. when i did that the headunit said interrupt across the front. i was unable to to change anything. i.e. couldn't switch it to disc or radio. Whats next???

Ok, I don't know why crutchfield would tell you to do this, you have just wasted a lot of valuable time for nothing..Pink/Black on an Alpine HU is the phone mute/interrupt wire, used for HF phone kits that send a ground trigger out when a phone call is received(or you can mod your radar detector for radio mute as well). When hooked up to the Alpine's pink/blk, the radio will go into interrupt mode and mute the sound output so that you can hear and answer your phone..There is absolutely no reason to have this hooked up to a drive-n-play..Simply run the rca out from the D&P to the Aux input on the Alpine, make sure the aux is enabled in the setup menu, and hit the source button to switch over to aux when you want to use the D&P...

For the record, Alpine DVD units have a yellow/blue(parking brake) and yel/blk(foot brake) that need a sequence to activate video viewing, not simply flipping a toggle switch..You can hook up the foot brake wire (it needs to read positive), and the park brake wire through a switch to ground; then you have to hold down the foot brake, flip the switch off, then on, then release the foot brake and the video will come on..Or order a PAC TR-1 which replicates the whole process automatically..

Yes, they gave you an AI-Net to rca adaptor right?

Plug that into the port on the back of the HU, and then plug the D&P into the rca's; but you have to go into the setup menu and make sure the aux is turned on...Then you can press the source button to access the aux mode and listen to the Drive-n-Play..

yes that is the same rca adaptor they gave me. its plugged into the cd port any everything is hooked up. aux setting is set on, on the HU. I am not getting any sound. im about the give up and throw this sh** out the window. thanks for all the help.
