i was hooking up an amp the other day and my left channel rca cable fell and hit my ground wire while still hooked up to the amp and power was still hooked up as well. After that i now have a engine noise coming through my speakers and the local car audio shop said that i have a ground loop problem and 150 bucks later they still didnt come up with a solution on how to fix this problem except by deadning the engine noise by putting noise filters on the amps but i can not get rid of this problem so any help would be VERY appreciated ,come on guys help out a lost crazed car audio manic

Here is a few things to try yourself.

Take a small length of thin speaker wire and solder it to the negative spades on one end of the RCA's then grond the wires to the chassis of the amp or headunit depending on which end you soldered(you can just wrap the wires around the RCA cables spades if you dont have the stuff to solder).

Ground the HU and the amp/s to the small place to share a common ground.

Connect a wire to the head units chassis then connect it to the amplifier chassis.

Heres some info on what ground loops are and how to fix them, they talk in terms of home audio but the principals are still the same.
