Two kinds I guess. To protect the wire from a short, and to keep water, air and noise out. I would go for the later. I had one I was selling in my signature, but I sold it. But that gives you an idea.

I use a UNIBIT and these for LARGE cables,but simply you can buy grommets anywhere

and drill the proper hole with the unibit...those firewall grommets parts express sells **** balls
