Government Shutdown

we dont need to shut down the govt we need to stop pissing money away on the poor and hand outscut the salaries of govt workers in DC and quit raping Americans
Wealth starts from the bottom up, bro. Do you know what happens when we redistribute wealth? That money gets spent a lot faster than it would at the hands of the top 2% of people. More spending means a better economy. If those "poor" people aren't getting handouts, they aren't spending money, they aren't eating food. So the benefit is two-fold. You stimulate the economy by giving people money that they spend INSTANTLY (funded in large part by money sitting in the savings accounts of millionaires) and you help people have a meal to eat every night.

It's an amazing feat that the Republicans have pulled off over the past 30 years. And that feat is making people think their own interests are bad for them. They've got people worrying more about millionaires than the poor. The lie and say that giving more money to the rich will make them hire more people, even though it gives them no reason to hire (which would be demand), and even though payroll is exempt from taxes anyway, so they can hire as many people as their pre-tax revenue allows.

And the Republicans LOVE to have people believe the things that you are saying. That both parties are ****, and the government is ****. So we better vote for the anti-government party, the Republicans!
Seriously, Republicans in office is an oxymoron. How can we trust a party, whose fundamental principles are anti-government, to provide a government that works for it's people?

For government to work, people need to believe in government. Simple as.
Ah yes, here comes the Democratic party's favorite cheerleader. Yes, of course only the Republicans have created all these problems. Yes, of course only the republicans are greedy, inept, and corrupt. Lets move to a one party system, the democrats, wouldn't that be wonderful.

Of course the Democrats aren't perfect and they play politics too. But they're inherently better than the Republicans in that their party isn't based on a lie. Democrats aren't perfect, but they're far, far better for this country's people than the Republicans.

The Republicans' lie is that conservatism is good for the "average person". That shifting the tax burden onto them and taking benefits away from them is miraculously good for them. It's ludicrous. If they want to push their principles because of principle? Fine. But once you step into saying that it's good for people, you are a blatant liar.

Did you watch the daily show yesterday? Did you see him mocking Ryan's graph? Where he showed the skyrocketing debt estimates and how it comes drastically down if the Bush tax cuts are repealed? That is the epitome of what the Republican party is, it illustrated it PERFECTLY. They hate the three most successful programs in our government, medicare, medicaid and SS, but they know it would be way to unpopular to get rid of them. So what do they have to do? Create a crisis. They created this debt crisis through tax cuts. The Shock Doctrine. Starve the Beast. Look it up.

You say you aren't partisan, so it shouldn't be hard for you to realize what the Republicans are doing.

Its all the republican's fault, you are a broken record. A card carrying registered Democratic fanboy. When confronted, you admit the Democrats "arent perfect", but every argument you make is how awesome the democrats are and how evil the republicans are. Its impossible to even have a bipartisan discussion, like this was before you got here, with someone like you. Emphasize Republican examples, and downplay Democratic ones, that's your reality.

Great, you think Republicans' platform is based on a lie. What does that have to do with the discussion on how our political system is run wild with incompetence and corruption? Nothing, unless you are a partisan blowhard who looks for any opportunity to start a bickering match over the same tired ammunition the political machine has trained you to regurgitate. Take your song and dance somewhere else.

Its impossible to even have a bipartisan discussion
What is so inherently great about a bipartisan discussion? Nothing. What even DEFINES a bipartisan discussion? Is it just a discussion between two people of opposing viewpoints? If I have my opinions and don't say that opposing opinions are good that means I'm just a card carrying registered fanboy? And what even is the problem with being a card carrying registered Democrat voting person? Does it make me wrong? Of course I know I'll never get a single answer to any of these questions, but just something to think about. I can't stand the stigma that "bipartisanism" is ALWAYS good. It not like you can't be rational without being "bipartisan".

You keep using the crutch that my opinions are my opinions because I like the Democrats. But you're just putting the cart before the horse. I vote Democrat because they most closely align with my opinions. If Republicans suddenly became the ones who were for using government to help people from every class and the Democrats suddenly became the ones who hated government and only cared about the richest people in this country, I would have no problem voting Republican. Get that through your head. It's just more ad hominem bullshit from you because you have NOTHING else to argue against me with. You know I'm right. And that's why you want me to take my song and dance elsewhere.

You try so hard to be "bipartisan" as though it's some great virtue that you actually lose your rationality (even though really, you're just as aligned with conservatives as I am with the democrats). You're just as bad as the people who really DO vote for a party just because it's that party. And in case you missed it from earlier, that's not me.

And it has to do with the current discussion because the current discussion is implying that both parties are the same and neither care about the welfare of the people in this country, and it's woefully false. It couldn't be further from the truth.

And I look for any opprotunity to start bickering because:

A) I like to argue

B) I can't stand uninformed people

C) I do what I can to advance the knowledge of others

I dont try so hard to be bipartisan, I just am. Just like you dont try to be a Democratic fanboy, you just are.

I could cite plenty of Democrats who have been caught with their hand in the cookie jar, if I had any interest in trying to keep you on track with this discussion. But I have enough experience with your mentality to know you'd simply see it as yet another opportunity to regurgitate your opinion that 'sure, democrats suck, but republicans are practically satan'. Exactly the mentality I mentioned previously in this thread, that Washington politicians are all so vile, that even if you pick out several and claim a trend, some partisan shill will stand up and claim the 'other side' is worse. You are that shill, but Im not that dupe you are looking for.

Our career politicians just love people like you. They love it when we get all wrapped up in partisan bickering like you indulge in at every opportunity. Its keeps our expectations so low that even criminals and idiots seem acceptable.

So acknowledging that the two parties are different, that one is better than the other and that voting for the one that most closely resembles my opinion is just being a partisan pawn and ruining the country? Really?

And by the way, I don't think the Democrats are bad at all. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif Look at all the good things for the people in this country the Democrats have done. What have the Republicans done?

Its funny how amazingly partisan you are, but downplay it when confronted. In your world, saying the Democrats "arent perfect" is as bad as you can bring yourself to refer to the Democrats, while saying the most partisan things you can think of for Republicans. In your world, arguing the virtues of the Democratic party while openly denying one single positive the Republicans offer, is you simply "acknowledging that the two parties are different, that one is better than the other and that voting for the one that most closely resembles my opinion". Once again, trying to have any meaningful conversation on politics with you is impossible.

The brainwashing is strong in you, young one.

No shit??? Could have fooled me! lulz

What have the Republicans done?
Made me lol. Your overwhelming desire to pull me into one of your lame partisan arguments has blinded you to the fact that Ive not defended Washington Republicans one iota in this thread. You are just pissy mad because when I badmouth Washington's career politicians, that includes your butt buddies on the Democratic side too. You aren't satisfied unless political discussions blame Republicans for everything from your tax rate to your dog dying last year, while those democratic angels in Washington just have us little guy's best interest at heart. Gosh, lets all have a 'Democrats are swell guys' circle-jerk until we orgasm from the thought of their benevolence. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I'm not Republican, but to call them anti-government is a little extreme. They believe in little government involvement, lower taxes and generally keeping the money in the country. I'm about as independent as you can get and believe that the way everything is going right now, its out of our control until we get the criminals out of the white house and start over. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif So far we've just been fed lies and deceit by the last 4-5 elects.

Why do you let him troll you so?
He's trying to troll me into a partisan argument. I guess me pointing that out, and not falling into his game of Dems vs Repubs is me still getting trolled. Duly noted.

But I do agree his replies deserve no response at all, ultimately. I generally only reply at this point, when I get some level of enjoyment out of pointing out his political lap-dog loyalty.

Dont bother, he sees any reply that isnt "the Democrats are God's gift to humanity" as saying "The Republicans are awesome!". He's a Democratic fanboy to the extreme, and there is no way to permeate his brainwashed logic.

I agree. The most frustrating part for me is how BOTH parties are just a cat and mouse game. Just a fake chess game to entertain the public. Its like the American Idol of politics these days. Who's saying what? Who is Obama playing basket ball with today? Oh, look at Obama dance on Ellen and try to be cool to fit in with our nations youth. What a bunch of sheep.
