Has anyone noticed what they do to make money, and take our money these days..? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif My son was involved in accident, and so I stayed home from work to take care of him today. So I've been sitting on the couch watching the news all morning, and just realized after hours of the same thing. This relates to texas, but to other states most likely soon to follow.

A.) The state declined the petition to remove state taxes from fuel; however, the tax fun we pay to have the roads fixed is nearly out, because they are using it towards DPS Highway patrole, and other things in which we are not paying for.

B.) Their passing a law in houston where if your (diesel) truck weights so much, they charge $145.00 a day to drive in the city.

C.) Toll roads increase .25 every stop.

During the winter here in michigan i ended up sending my neon into a ditch and it happen to knock down a small tree and alot of brush.. The cops charged me with something like failure to control vehicle and 1500 dollar fine for state property damage because a twig was broken. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

as far as i am concerned the only proper role for government is to protect our sovereignty and personal property rights. Anything beyond that is just government overstepping its bounds.

In TN, the fuel tax goes to roads. It goes to nothing but roads. In many states, the taxes go to the general fund for redistribution, but in TN. Just roads. We have the 2nd best roads in the county.

I agree for the most part. However, I do think the government should assist in education, enforcing laws (as laws are the number one most important thing in creation of business and contracts), generally trying to facilitate advances in sciences that the private sector does not wish to fund.

Here the funs are also meant to be directed only towards roads. But they announced today they've been using them for other things. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

I have no idea when to take you seriously... but I think we might have problems with things like roads, education, and so forth if they didn't overstep their bounds a little bit, eh?

*laughs*

This is why I'm not in The Lounge too much, too much Tom Foolery and no telling when someone is being serious //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

All I know is what the word was when I was an intern with the state legislature. The road builders have a great lobby. I don't think they would allow the legislature to spend highway money on the highway patrol.

However, their lobby pales in comparison to the liquor lobby.

Many of our subdivisions (upscale ones) have private roads, police, and fire depts.
