got scammed on ebay, anyone got info?

i bought a brand new 50" plasma on ebay for my studio, the guys page had all the bells and whistles and he had like 15k sales with a 99.4 positive feedback, and i have bought probably a thousand things on ebay since i first joined up in like 98/99 and for the past few years ive only bought with trusted sellers with paypal etc...so a week goes by, nothing, i called ups to verify the tracking #, they said there were no packages shipped with that #, so i contacted the dude, nothing, waited a few days, e-mailed him again, nothing, at this time i got called out to come here to minnesota, hit the dude up again, nothing this was all over the course of 3 weeks, so i filed a claim with paypal, like 2 1/2 weeks ago, and nothing has happened yet...i was contacted by the sacremento police departement in regards, so apparently homeboy did this on a massive scale...but still nothing...anyone know how long it takes and what type of $ im going to get back? i read where it said up to $1,000.00, im like isht! i paid $5,800.00

if u paid by credit card call your CC company and issue a chargeback. That sucks man, i read about a year ago some e-bay scammer was caught and had stolen more than 2.5 million. He's in prison as most of these scum will end up cause they are greedy.

paypal is a unless POS company,it takes weeks for them to look over a case and by that time

the scum ******* looser could close up shop and head to a foreign county...

Always use a CC for large purchases

the link to the item has been removed all together, at first you could still see the item and description but now the link is gone and says it has been deleted by ebay...

guess i got crazy with the black out but, whatever...

ps. i know its a message board but i dont necessarily like being referred to as stupid, this person was an e-tailer for pioneer products, this wasnt like i bought it from a nobody, this was like a corrupt powerseller so...

I would never pay for anything more than $1k online, unless I can completely trust the site (bestbuy, circuit city, etc.) but never ebay.

really? i hope thats the case...its been more than 10 days, but, we'll see...my wife is all over me haha, figures the 1 personal high dollar item i buy this year turns out to get me screwed...

That's how mine worked, it took a few days to update. I'd suggest you read the paypal dispute terms/faq so you know what you're up against and/or can defend yourself if need arise.
