Got pulled over today for first time - Got ticket

I got pulled over for doing 92 in a 50 today on 441.

A lot of you know how mesmerising it is when there is no one else on the road, and your spedometer just keeps going up (without noticing it).

So i'm just driving on my way back from the mall with my girlfriend, and i'm just kinda... well, driving. I wasn't racing, or weaving, or anything. Just straight, driving. I realized that I was going about 90 on my spedometer (my spedometer is broken, so anything it shows, my actual speed is 5mph less, in this case, I was going about 80-85ish). As soon as I realized it, I slowed down and then I pass a undercover (was going about 60-70 at that time) and his lights went on.

I can't complain that he didn't care what I had to say, cause he said he clocked me at 92. I didn't talk back, or anything, probably cause I was worring about throwing up.

He was in front of me about 1/4 mile when I started slowing down.

I guess you could say im really lucky. Ive been driving for nearly two years now and havent gotten a single ticket. Got a couple of warnings at a road block once for having no tag light and an expired insureance card...It was only 2 days out of date at the time. But I sure had fun last night. Stayed out really late with a friend in town riding around and one the way home there wasnt anyone out (it was 1 o'clock in the morning) and I run 95-105 in my Grand Am all the way home. Hehe, 7 mile trip in about 5 minutes. But I only did that because there was absolutely noone out, I only passed 1 single car the whole way.

what your speedo says means nothing. if you didn't ask for a calibration report for the radar gun, then there's pretty much nothing you can do, if he gunned you. they are required to calibrate daily, some states twice daily. if you ask for the calibration report, and they can't produce one for that day, then they aren't legally allowed to give you a ticket. you can also ask to see the radar, so you can see that he clocked you at that speed. if you're over the age of 18, at least thats what it is in most states, you can plead no-lo in court, and they will lower the ticket some. but, at least in my state, if you are under the age of 18, and are clocked, and given a ticket for more than 24 mph over the speed limit, you lose your license for 6 months to 1 year (depending on the judge). your insurance will undoubtedly go up. your only hope is that you can plead no-lo to it, being as you have no proof that he caught you doing that speed. also, if you go in court testifying that your speedo doesn't function properly, they can issue you a fix-it for it as well. i'd stay quiet about that part personally, to avoid another fine, and be required to fix my speedo, which will cost you more on top o what its already gonna cost you. just hope you get a good judge, and can plead no-lo. also, you might get lucky if you decide to fight the ticket, and the cop won't show up, which means that they have to throw the case out. that is highly unlikely. also, if he was a state trooper, at least this is how it is in my state, and he didn't have his hat on, then he couldn't issue you a ticket, because he wasn't in full uniform (got out of a ticket this way once). the law here states that the officer has to be in full uniform to be able to write you a ticket (again, that was 4 years ago, it may have changed now). now, i guess im rambling. good luck.

You have the right to see the radar gun, but the cops also have the right to NOT show you it. A friend of the family told me that(cop obviously).

lol tickets are a ***** but trust me dont do it again , i've gotten to speeding tickets within months both gonna cost me over 200 dollars. Money i could have used to upgrade my system so trust me learn ur lesson

hmm in cali thats reckless driving and two points on ur liscense and i think a suspension for 30days

better hope florida isnt like cali

most still use radar, but ive had one cop use a laser radar on my car before. but yea, my radar dector saves me alot, but half the time, cops dont drive with there radars on during the day, only at night

Hey i just thought i would throw in my .02. I didnt see if you said he did use radar or not. If he didnt then unfortunatly the state always believes the officers over the speeders. If he did then the calibration may be important and you can definetly check on that. I am very familiar with California Penal Codes but not as much with Florida. By the way, in Cali any law enforcent officer can give you a ticket. Minus a few city and county districts. Hope this helps. Wish i could tell you more!

i live in florida, the cops are full of it, i got a ticket from a motorcycle cop leaving the school parking lot for my car stereo being too loud, he didnt have a meter to tell how loud it was, is there any other way that they can give you a ticket for that besides a meter?
