So tonight I dive into tearing apart the laptop and installing the new processor //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Im excited.

Currently

Toshiba Sattelite P105 series

Core Duo T2500 2.0 Ghz (OC to 2.17Ghz under full load)

2Gb kingston ram

120Gb 5400rpm hard drive

nvidia go 7900GS

Win XP

Upgrade is

Core Duo T2600 2.16Ghz (Going to attempt to OC to 2.3Ghz)

4Gb kingston ram

Why overclock a Laptop you may ask yourself...

1)Because I can

2)Because one of the games I play heavily relys on your CPU and I need morez.

I'd be interested in knowing how the cooling and battery life situation worked out after the upgrade. Can you update this thread later on to let us know of any pitfalls you encountered?

Sure...But I will tell you that I hardly ever take the laptop off the wall charger.

I will however do a battery life test sometime this weekend for you.

Cooling I currently monitor so that wont be an issue.

why not build a desktop? not saying laptops = bad but desktops are way easier to keep cool, and have way more options esp with gaming
No room and I would rather have a laptop. Dunno, just no reason at this point.

On another note, I am also going to look into getting one of the T7xxx line processors when I get more cash.

I think that is the reason we do anything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Have you ever thought about liquid cooling it?

that'd be cool. i've never seen a liquid cooled laptop before. that seems like it'd be a huge setup to lug around though

My way to get room is to put the tower, cable modem and power strips on the floor. Air is cooler there as well. If I had a flatscreen and keyboard footprint, it would be about the same as a laptop.

No desk...

I play games, chat on CA.com and use photoshop all while sitting on my bed.

At the end of the month I may have room for a desk, time will tell.
