I think it would be pretty wicked if you had like a drawer type thing going on where the rack could push back in up under the rear deck or when you show off you could pull it out and show off the art work.
thought about doing that but with limited funds and being somwhat lazy i stuck with the option for less vibrations and cheaper expense.
Pretty fat dude that spacer is the ****

those amps are hot
how do you like the x993, I'm getting one in a few days
Love it, much more than i thought i would. the file searching is really fast, much faster than my cda-117 was. the deal breaker on the cda-117 was the file searching speed..slow as **** sometimes, especially when you first power on and the unit has to update its file bank, its staggering. The 993 is quick right off the bat soon as you power up. it's really easy if you have your thumb drive music organized in folders. Controls feel nice, theres a tiny bit of rubber around the knobs, feels a lil like my older eclipse decks that had rubber on the knobs. I thought i would miss the crazy bling and animations from my deh-p7800mp but i dont at all. Each line can be set for whatever title/track/album/whatever you want....you can see in the 3rd pic the way i have my lines setup and it's all i need. SQ is **** good, right on par with the burr browns in the cda-117 (which had some **** nice sq). After removing my eclipse EQ i thought my front stage sound would take a hit but suprisingly the change is barely noticable after some tweaking on the 993's 5 band eq. Since my midranges are loud as hell i had to cut the middle bands by alot but it all evened out and I couldnt be happier.
I heard alot of complaints about sunshine glare on the faceplate, but it hasnt been an issue for me. It has some glare in direct sunlight but honestly it's not better or worse than any other decks in the same spot. Some glare is bound to happen no matter what you do, but it wasnt as bad for me with light green background. I really love being able to do different colors for the left, right, and background display. Another common complaint i read was accidentally clicking the wrong way with the right side knob (clicks in, left, right, up, down, and turns). Its not nearly as bad as the eclipse cd5100 or the deh-p7800mp i used. those were a pain in the *** with misclicks. the 993 isnt that bad at all.
the only cons i can really come up with is i'm having trouble locating an all random function. there's folder random but no all random. like my old clarion dxz-775usb you can put random on and bump up or down each folder and it'll do a random track in that next or previous folder...but i'd really like an all random. there's so much that i love about this deck that this is minimal and certainly not a deal breaker issue for me. another small issue is that with usb thumb drives i dont think you can set favorite tracks for the quick search with the right knob (turning left and right while at main menu). i htink this feature is only with ipods. I'm going to keep playing with it and email kenwood to see if there's a way around it. But the normal search feature is fast enough and easy enough to use that this isnt much of an issue at all.
hopefully this was helpful.
