Polluting Residentials
I was the passenger in a wreck and both vehicles were insured. My question is what to do? This was my first major wreck so I dont know the proceedure for this.
Here are the details;
My GF and I were traveling along the freeway at regular speeds. 60-70. There was some type of disturbance up the road so traffic began to slow to a stop. About 6 cars had actually stopped. We came to a stop ourselves and were the last car to actually stop as it took a minute for the hazard to clear. Anyway, after we had been completely stopped for 1-2 seconds, a guy in a mustang rear ended us doing full highway speed, he admitted to being at 60-65. The reason he hit us was because he admitted to not even looking ahead, he was looking out the side at something else. So he rear ends us full speed (no brake marks or attempt to brake) which projects our vehicle into the car in front of us. MY gf's was basically sandwiched and totaled...Im sure the other guy will be at fault based on admitting to not watching the road ahead of him....so my question is this; what should I do?
I have been to the ER which stated that I have no structural damage, but did sustain a sprained neck from whiplash. Further, the disks in my neck have been knocked out of alignment and the tissue in the area is swollen. That is the extent of my injuries, nothing critical, but painful nonetheless. I have already missed 2 days of work and the chiropracter would like to set up 4 weeks of therapy.
What do i do? Just keep track of all medical records and such and submit them to the insurance? BTW, my GF is fine and her insurance has done a great job of grabbing this by the horns. Should I submit all my paperwork to her insurance? I was told to do that and let her insurance go after the other guy...
And here is where my greediness comes into play, how much should I be compensated for this? Roughly? I know the insurance will call and offer some rediculously low amount. Whats a good general figure to demand? 5k? 10k?
