got fired today

in case you didn't know i was an hr manager or what they call a "people coach" at kmart. about 3 days i get paiged by one of the cashiers that a customer was giving her a hard time. i go up there and there is this about late 60 year old man. he tells me your dumb employees are trying to tell me this detergent isn't on sale. he says the sign says all detergent 20% off. i tell him like the cashier and the floor person said, that is all brand not every single detergent (he had gain detergent) we proceeded to go back and forth and he was swearing at me and i, unlike all the other managers, don't give in to loud and *****y customers. finally he says **** this place i will never shop here again. i told him that's fine by me, one less ******* i have to worry about. well i get ready to start working and the store manager says to go home. i ask why and he said a customer reported to the HQ about what i said and the district manager fired me. the district manager doesn't like me to begin with. he didn't even want to give me the job because i'm young but my store manager talked him into it. now he had a perfect to get rid of me. i had a chance to take a demotion and work on the floor but i turned it down

actually i might sue kmart because there was no investigation or anything done. a customer *****es and it's my word against his and the company takes his side. it really doesn't bother me because i was gonna quit in 3 weeks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Funk K-mart. i worked there along time ago and they tried to fire an few of us "young people" couse at the time my town Port Huron had a gang problem. i'm white and from a farm town in michigan "yale". i dont dress or talk like a gang member. any who they fired me and another guy for stealing they said they had us on camera the whole shabang. thats been like 11 years ago. i've been in k-mart i think a total of 3 times since.

I am very sorry to hear that man, losing a job is not a good thing. I applaud what you did and said though. Blatent stupidity and rudeness by the public should not be acceptable!

sorry to hear that man. I worked at a drug store when i was 16 and had to deal with customers like that every day.

customers just drive me crazy. i've seen customers grab a pricing gun and just start randomly pricing shit. i've had to call the police because 2 40 year old were riding bikes through the store and wouldn't stop. i'm moving to florida at the end of the month and was gonna quit anyways so that's why i didn't accept the demotion.

honeslty, if you signed a contract that have(wich im sure a big company like kmart has) clauses wich say "we have the right to terminate you at any time yadda yadda"

i know. my defense would be age disrination. i am by far the youngest manager and it was the store manager who pushed so hard to get me the position because he liked me so the district manager gave in but didn't like it and found the perfect excuse to cut me loose.

Well no offense I work the customer service at where I work and if I ever swore at a customer oh gosh...but then again I get Rich people not Kmart shoppers lol.

I don't fully agree with what ya said...Your suppose to have to take crapt in order to keep your job. Thats just how it is. Whether or not it was fair because he was swearing at you and U swore back he shouldn't be such a prick about it and call them up and say that u swore at him when he was doing it to you. And also for them not giving you a chance to explain yourself...thats not exactly legal!? They usually give you a rebudle and they make you fill out some paper work of what exactly happened. But eh, I would look into that for sure.
