horns are too hard to make fit in my dash IMO. and i know your gonna say its hard to do all these in the doors, but i was going to glass the doors anyways, and i dont like just a plain door, i like the look of all the speakers as well. and the mids thatll be behind me, well its gonna be in the side parts that seal the front off from the back, so all i have to do extra is cut some 6.5" holes to put the speaker in. just a little more work on the doors then straight up glassing them in the stock position, but i didnt want it. the dash, im just gonna glass in the stock shape, but thats not for a while. and the ID horns cost about 500 alone dont they?

and you dont know how loud horn can get
true, i dont.

shoulda heard horns before you jumped on the emenince bandwagan(florida bandwagon)
i chose to be on that bandwagon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

hope you like the wya it sounds, and your hearing lasts. Look forward to seeing a build, should b interesting.
thanks, even though people will just flame when they see the build anyways.

Horns don't go IN the dash, they go UNDER the dash. A couple hour job in most vehicles.

If that's your cup of tea, more power to ya.

It's my opinion that it's a horrible idea, on the verge of idiotic, and will sound horrible to boot.

But it's your money, time, vehicle, and damaged hearing.....so....whatever

New.

Used but not abused is about half that.

I share your beliefs here.

Horns' just play high freqs and I think they are ugly. I've heard them and they are very loud but extremly harsh. I think they are really expensive for what they do and you still need to match them up with tons and tons of mids. So we are talking about midrange drivers. How can you compare Horns to Eminence's?

We arent talking about those pyramid 5 dollar horns.

and if you did hear the CDT full/Mini bodies and they were harsh they werent setup right.

And they do play rather low for tweeters...

Horns and a nice set of Midbasses is all you would need.

Excellent observation.

Keep up the good work Sherlock.

and I think they are ugly.
Properly installed you'd likely never see them, unless intentionally looking for them.

I've heard them and they are very loud but extremly harsh.
Then you either heard crappy horns, or horns setup very poorly.

"I rode in a Corvette, and it was extremely slow".

No more mids than a regular component set. I can't think of anybody on Team Image Dynamics that uses more than 1 pair of midrange and 1 pair of midbass (typical 3-way frontstage). Many just run 2-way, with a single pair of midbass.

I think someone needs to do a little more research......

Last I looked there are about 8 "horn loaded tweeters" in that picture pimped posted, along with the mids //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Maybe you're not so Sherlock'ish afterall......

We are saying that a single pair of mids with good quality HLCD would far exceed his plans in terms of sound quality, and get more than loud enough.

1: no they dont play just all highs.

2: you have not heard anything that you have claimed too. so shut it.

3: they are not really expensive for "what they do"

4: you dont need to match em up with tons of anything

5: shut the hell up.

Haha we got some more E-thug computer nerds on here! You guys must be thinking about something totally different from what we are. Hard to see them? HAHAH.. they hang from under your dash almost touching your legs! Every single horn I have ever heard was just playing High Freqs, how can you dissagree with that? That is what they are built for if you diden't know!. And you think one pair of regular SQ drivers can keep up a pair of Horns? Please tell me your joking. All horns I've ever heard needed tons of Midrange to keep up with them.

Pretty sure we are all well aware of what horns are //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Again, you need to do more research.

In most well executed horn installs, you can not even see the horn itself.

And in the installs where you can see the horn, it certainly looks much less hideous than having 10 mids in a door //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

It depends on your definition of "high freqs".

No, horns intended for vehicles don't play subbass.

But they play lower than most conventional tweeters.

Just as an //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif, you can horn load any driver. Yes, you can horn load a subwoofer for very efficient subbass performance....but the size of the horn is quite large.

And you think one pair of regular SQ drivers can keep up a pair of Horns? Please tell me your joking. All horns I've ever heard needed tons of Midrange to keep up with them.
Again, you need to do more research. For some odd reason you are failing to realize that you are the one who is misinformed.
