Got a new sub box to fill......IDQ or ??

Enclosure is 1cuft total

Mounting depth is 5.87"

Amp is Alpine PDX-1.1000

Budget is around $600

Music taste: Metal and rock mostly.

SQ is important and I'd like decent output.

With this enclosure size and depth, I'm thinking a pair of IDQ10" would go nicely.

Any other considerations I should take a look at?

Thanks!

Well, with Fi I cant meet the depth requirements.

Kicker Comp cant meet enclosure requirements.

Anyone got a suggestions besides IDQ? Not that anything is wrong with IDQ I just want to make sure given my specifications I'm not missing another option.

Plan on ordering by next week! Help a brother out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/help.gif.cee8f684da1ba626487a8bc51152e1ec.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks

If you have your heart set on two subs the IDQ's are the only ones I can think of that will meet your space requirements.

With the power you have on hand I agree on building a new box for a single, beefier sub, such as the IDMAX, or counless others... But most of those, including the IDMAX will not meet your depth requirements, so you are back to square one.

Appreciate the replies guys.

As far as box goes I'm hosed on anything bigger/deeper.

I figured on 2 10" as I wouldn't be able to get a really good 12" in there due to depth restrictions. I could get a IDQ12, but then I think the 2 10" will have more output.

Power wise: Is the PDX-1.1000 over kill if I do go with 2 IDQ10? I figured the overhead of 400w would be good to have. I also have a PDX-1.600 I could use but then that would put me right at the capacity of the two IDQ10 (300w RMS), and if they are underated (any one know?) then I wouldn't have anything left to give them.

On the Boston G5, looks good but they need 6.75 depth, so they wont work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Thanks again for the replies guys. Please keep them coming.

I just sold my car, but in it I had an IDQ10 in a .5 cuft sealed enclosure powered by a 200wRMS Arc Audio KAR amp. It powered it very nicely, I loved the sub for its SQ and it did get decently loud. I was told feeding it 350wRMS would be too much, but I was also told if I was careful with the gains I could use a 500w amp as well.

Something else, I'm coming from a single ID10" now in .75cuft powered by the PDX-1.600

This quest is basically for more output, so:

Right now I have 400rms

With 2 IDQ10 I would have 600rms - a difference of 200rms, will that be enough of a difference? I'm looking for a night and day change here, a "whoa" that's better.

Maybe I should be considering going with 2 ID10, that would be a total of 800rms for a difference of 400rms, surely that would make a difference wouldn't it?

Or is my math/reasoning flawed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

--edit-- looks like req had the same idea......

Yeeaahh, so you think I should go with the pdx1.1000 to push them or the pdx1.600?
Whelp, looking like ID10 x2 it is, unless someone knows of any other candidates.....
use the 1.000. You never know when you'll want to upgrade, plus if you set the gains properly you wont' have to worry about blowing the subs. You'll just have piece of mind knowing your subs are at full potential without making your amp break a sweat.
