I bought 2 JL 10W0v2 subs for my truck and need an amp to power them. I looked around some and found 2 "possible" choices. heres what i got:

-MTX jh600, its Class D, RMS Power Rating: 4 ohms: 350 watts x 1 channel

-JL AUDIO® J2-500.1, Class B, RMS Power Rating: 4 ohms: 340 watts x 1 channel

they are both bascially the same price, $150, which is about as much as I want to spend. Should I go with either 1 of these amps? i read a bunch of reviews and its the same thing for both. some people say they are amazing, some say its a waste of money, some say the amp overheats alot, others say the amp gets hot but never turns off. the reviews i read didnt help me at all.

other recommendations in my budget would help too. thanks

Firstly, those subs are 4 ohms each so you need your power at 2 ohms, not 4ohms. So those amp choices are out. You need an amp that will do a solid 5-600watts (or more) at 2 ohms. Like this, or...

this, or...

this, or...

this

Any of those will work out nicely within your budget. You'll be wiring the subs to a 2 ohm load, as shown here:

the Audiopipe is a better choice out of the selection IMO. I have a friend who is a big audiopipe fan and he said they have never let them down. He had the 1000W mini and the AP1500 and loved them both. Actually, I'm ordering me an AP1500 Monday

yeh i didnt hear anything about audiopipe either until my friend started messing with them but he has told me that for the price the amps really put out and do their job so come monday i will order my own to power my 2 15's

the JL has 2 ohms: 500 watts x 1 channel RMS

MTX has 2 ohms: 600 watts x 1 channel RMS

i guess they would work, right?

Yeh, I didn't think about checking out their 2 ohm ratings. The JL is probably the most solid out of that selection. JL has nice stuff, unfortunately more often than not, they're overpriced. If you can get it for around the same price as the others, then go for it. Keep in mind, it won't get your subs to full potential, while one of the amps that does at least 600 watts at 2 will, but for a truck setup, it'll probably get loud enough. At very least, if you ever want to upgrade, you'll have no problem selling JL locally(not quite as easy on here haha). Don't get the MTX, just take my word on that one. Audiopipe isn't the best stuff out there, but for the price point, they're VERY difficult to beat. Solid amps and will do rated, definitely worth their low cost.

i guess its down to the Audiopipe AP-10001D or JL J2-500.1. i started looking into Audiopipe and they seem like good stuff, not real popular like JL though.

i'd get the JL amp if you can get it for only 150. you're running 2, 4ohm subs. running them parallel will make a 2ohm load. so that 340 will be 500. which will be perfect for them.
Yeh 300 watts each. 600 for the pair, nothing to be worried about. It doesn't mean he can't hook them up to an amp that does 1500 @ 2ohms if he felt like it...they'll be just fine as long as he takes it easy on the gains

Not sure where you'd be getting the JL, but if you're getting it from an authorized dealer with a warranty for $150, then do that. Keep in mind the audiopipe will bring no warranty.

ya i hear what your saying. the Audiopipe AP-10001D makes 200W RMS more power at 2 ohms and its 10 bucks less. i was leaning toward the JL but that Audiopipe sounds good. i really just want something reliable that isnt got crap out in a year or 2 and sounds good

i was looking on ebay for the JL amp. now that i look at it again it doesnt say anything about a warranty. theres another person selling the same amp for $156 with a 2 year warranty.... but its ebay so i doubt that 2 year warranty is worth sh1t.
