Good Whiskey?

My dad's some sort of ambassador for Maker's Mark, and has his own barrel. Ever since he's gotten it, it's turned into his life goal to go get a bottle from his own personal barrel, himself.

As for vodka, Armadale, Jewel of Russia, and Tito's is where it's at. But I don't drink vodka much...

Well just got back from the booze store. Went for makers but found this:

whiskey004tx4.jpg

Leopold Bros Blackberry Whiskey. Not usually into flavored crap but figured I'd give it a shot. Only aged a year as well. Will have to see how it goes when I bust into it tonight.

Got a half pint of Makers as well. Don't drink that much anymore so that'll be enough to give it a taste.

Let me know about the Leoplads. About to go eat after it's Jager time for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

From my own experiences with Bourbon, I would go:

1. Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve

2. Woodford Reserve

3. Maker's Mark

4. Buffalo Trace

5. Evan Williams

I heard that Jefferson's Reserve is supposed to be rated quite well. I need to find a bottle of that sometime. But I'm more of a rum type of guy. lol

One of these days I want to order one Johnnie Blue or Gold...just one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I prefer the gold over the blue. But it is nice to say you have a $150+ bottle around //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

As far as whiskey it depends on what you are looking for as far as taste.

Bourbons, blends, sour mash and scotch all differ somewhat.

Bourbons: Blanton's is probably my fave but hard to find and a little expensive. Otherwise its Woodford, Makers or Knob in that order.

Blends I prefer V.O. (my dad drinks it)

Sourmash I prefer any jack, though I have grown to like the green label over black for standard Jack and of course the Gentlemen and Single Barrel.

Scotch is Glenlivet or Glenfiddich.

Of course this is a somewhat budget minded list. If money was no object the list would be substantially different,

Regardless or which you choose imo whiskey should only be drank straight. Save the mixers for vodka or rum.

All of you guys are rookies.

1843 is the best hands down. It can only be purchased in St. Louis.

BTW its my 500th post! I'm proud of myself even if you all hate me.

#1 Its not really good.

#2 You can buy it online

#3 Dont you think the best would cost a lil more than $13 bucks a bottle?

This stuff sucks balls! Would not suggest it to anybody. Nasty sweet on the rocks. Threw some in soda, if you want your girl to like whiskey this would be the one...yuckk. Yay for having a .75 of nasty booze I will never drink //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Moving on to the makers next, need something better.

Meh... the blue is just... ok. It's nothing to write home about. I also prefer the gold.

The Chivas Regal Royal Salute 21-year is hands-down the bomb over any JW. Also Glenfiddich 18-year roxors.

Best I've ever had was some Bowmore 25-year, which I tried when I was at the distillery in Scotland. They had a 40-year version, too, but at like $4k per bottle, they weren't about to give me a taste. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
