Good shallow subwoofer 8-10"

I need a good single subwoofer for my regular cab 1996 GMC Sierra. I had 2 Rockford P2 10" subwoofers in a home built 3/4" MDF box and it sounded really good with all music: country, rock, alternative, rap, etc. They were powered by an Alpine MRP-350 amp. However, the depth of the subs required a deep box and that made me have to push the seat up too far. I lived with that for about 5 months and had enough of having the steering wheel in my chest.

I have sold the 10" P2 subs and am now looking for a good single 8" or 10" subwoofer that is still shallow enough for me to have some legroom. I am leaning towards an 8" sub b/c they are generally more shallow (less than 5" of depth). Any suggestions? My price range is kind of limited. No more than $100 for the subwoofer. Thanks.

Looks cool, but I can't swing the $220 MSRP. I need something quite a bit cheaper than that. Also, I am a rookie in car audio. I'm not only referring to shallow mount subwoofers, but all subwoofers in general.

I support the IDQ's one of the best woofers i have owned. These subs held out for 2 years with me feeding them twice their RMS(at the time i did not know anyhting) However they are very good subs and last i checked they were on sale on sounddomain.com

Thank you all for the recommendations.

I cannot consider the Image Dynamic IDQ subwoofers because they do not come in an 8" model and they are too deep for my regular cab pickup. I am considering the 8" v.3 model though.

I have read good things about Image Dynamics. However, I am looking for sound quality more than anything. Is the Image Dynamics ID8 v.3 more of a SQ or SPL subwoofer? And, will the Alpine MRP-M350 be powerful to really make that subwoofer sound good? That Alpine amp pushes 200w RMS @ 4 ohms I believe.

Image Dynamics is a SQ company. The IDv3's have a little more output and can get lower compared to the IDQ's but also great SQ. I had a ID10v3 running off a 100W amp in a ported enclosure and it sounded fine so your amp will be a good match. I also had mine paired with a Arc Audio 2100 bridged with 380W and it was fantastic. Two weeks ago I got an IDMAX. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What are you running for your front stage?

I have 2 Eclipse SE8363 3-way 6.5" speakers in the doors and 2 Eclipse SE8465A 2-way 4x6" speakers in the rear pillars. The highs and midbass are really clean with those speakers, but they need some bass, i.e. subwoofer.

I don't understand why the IDQ's have such crappy looking baskets compared to the IDv3's, and yet, they are priced higher and considered a higher brand.

Nevertheless, you can't go wrong with ID.

Everything ID makes is considered SQ items, and two of the ID8v.3s will sound very nice.

Now if you could just find a pair that were like new...(cough)see sig (cough)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
