Good or Bad idea for midbass

Well i have Germaniums and they have a decent amount of midbass but I want more so i was thinking i could put in like two Tang Band $50 6.5's as dedicated midbass

would this work with the germs and the 2 10" TC-7's that are on order for the sub-bass

Also can you just add dedicated midbass to a 2-way system or do you have to have a 3-way with the dedicated midrange to do that?

Well, if everything was processed and crossed over correctly, I imagine it could sound pretty good. In fact, I'm probably going to do something like that in my car. Getting midbass in a convertible is a PITA

so what would i do just low-pass the 10"s

and then HP the 6.5" tangs

and then HP the germs 6.5's even higher

and at what frequency would i do each?

or would i highpass both 6.5's at the same frequency?

You would need what is called a bandpass filter. It is a high pass and low pass in the same filter. It only lets a certain range of frequencies through. I know memphis makes a 3-way crossover that can be used in your application.

Actually, being that you have an 880PRS, you can set the HPF to like 80Hz, and use a separate LPF at however high you want the 6.5's to play.

Yup..

With your 880, split the mid output for your midbass and midrange. Run the highpass at the low-point of your midbasses. Something like 50 or 63 Hz or something. I actually run mine down to 25 most of the time, but I'm using 8" subs for midbass.

Then use the midbass amp's low-pass for the high cutoff point, and the mid amp's high-pass for the Rainbows. The low-pass of the mid output of your 880 is the upper limit of your midrange output.

In this way, you can run a 4-way active system using the combination of the filters from your 880 and your amps.

I'm thinking about getting some as well. But the rear speakers in my car are 6.75" I gotta figure a way to make em work lol.

I'd fix the install on what you have instead. If you want midbass you need to deaden. Buying more drivers is a waste.
