Good headunit for running active?

So to run active on the 117 you need the h100 and you can run active on the 9887 out of the box? But to run active on the 117 and h100 you can only use imprint, right? But using imprint sounds allot better than just using normal crossovers?

I have heard that the imprint tune is underwhelming. I would probably look at eclipse or a high end pioneer. There is not a whole lot to choose from for active decks. You could get a deck that is not active and run a processor

Just been looking at the Kenwood KDC-x995 how would one of them be? And they don't seem to sell them in the UK so what would a reasonable price for one be?

imprint sets your xover points for you and has been known to blow tweeters.

Not if you use the mic with TrueRTA. You can also use the Imprint to find your dips and peaks and tune and re-measure on your own. Most recommend using the the Imprint for a baseline, tuning from it, running it again, and tuning again on your own.

yes even then, it is different then the 9887 it will **** your tweeters.

you need imprint with the 117
To run active yes, but it has a built in USB connection and I personally am very happy with mine. Time correction works very well and I have yet to install my imprint as of now but ive got it laying around somewhere. As soon as I get my IA 6.4 ill be going active with some Vifa Neo tweets and some ID Oem's. Cant wait to see how this all sounds!

It doesn't allow you to run active. With the exception of a P99RS, I don't think there are any HUs currently in production that allow for active setups on their own. The 9887 is a solid choice, 800/880PRS, 9855, 9853, 9835, and the 9833 are all also good options. None of them will give you USB without any adapters and the latter 4 won't allow it at all. They should all be relatively affordable used on here. You can also look for the Eclipse 7100 or 7200MKII. The 7200MKII is a pretty incredible HU.

I have a mint 9855 that I have currently installed that I would let go of since I want to use my 7998 this year for IASCA SQ. The 9855 does not have usb but it does have AI-net so you can hook an Ipod up.

What is the 9855 like? Can you run active without no extra adapters, and what inputs does it have?

I am running it 2 way + sub active.right now, it can run 3 wayas it sits with out needing any external processor. 5 band parametric eq 7 band graphic eq 6 channel time alignment. The only input is the ai-net, 4 volt front, rear and sub pre amp outputs.
