Good/easy way to test phase...

Hey guys,

I'm trying to figure out a way to test the phase of my tweeters and mid-woofers. I can do the woofers by ear with a test tone, but I can't hear the phase change up in the 3k range. I'm installing some new tweeters (those Aura's I got from Desert Heat) and I want to make sure I wire them in phase. Unfortunely my install is hard to undo and redo so I'd like a way to test it without having to rip anything out. Is there an easy way to test the phase from the leads to the tweeters with a DMM or something? I saw a post where someone mentioned using a light bulb. How does the bulb behave based on phase?

Thanks guys!!

Mike

Take a Battery (DC) such as a cordless drill. Touch your wires to the + post & - post accordingly. If the speaker excurts forward, then you have the + on the + terminal & the - on the - terminal.

If it excurts rearward, then you have the wiring backwards.

This test is easy and takes about 25 seconds.

Hmm...thats what I was afraid of. I can't see the tweeter move, and I can't hear if it is out of phase with a test tone. I just tested the phase of my woofers, and they are out of phase with each other so I'm going to have to pull some of it apart anyways. If anyone thinks of a way for me to verify the tweeters, please let me know!!
