I've scoured these forums, and many others, to find and build the absolute best budget car audio solution I can with with my very limited income. I've come up with something that I think will be good quality equipment with a great price to boot. Here's the proposed build. Let me know what you guys think.
- Component Set -
Current: Infinity 5000cs Comps
As far as my complaints, I don't really have any outside of the fact that these are 5.25" drivers and just aren't able to keep up with my subs. They've been a great comp set, but the crossovers definitely suffered from being in my doors that have a tendency to leak, causing the screws for the speaker leads to rust. Generally just want something new with more kick.
Proposed (already bought): Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5" Comps
From what I read, these are great comps and the extra driver size should get me the added Hz range I want. Can't wait to get them and try them out.
- Amplifiers -
Current: Visonik V500HC
Again, nothing against this amp. It's been one of my favorites. Pushes my 12's and my component set and sounds great. It's worked flawlessly since I bought it on Ebay YEARS ago and I most likely will keep it as a back up. I just want an A/B for my comps and a D for my subs. Class A/B at 1ohm just draws too much power per watt.
Proposed Comp Amp: Cadence TXA-3002
Proposed Sub Amp: Cadence TXA-750D
These 2 amps give me plenty of power for my comps (150x2) as well as my subs (750x1). Plus I will have the desired A/B and class D for the respective speakers/subs. From what I have read here, Cadence amps are great for those on a budget. Plus, I found a good deal on the TXA-3002.
- Subs -
Current and Keeping: Pioneer 305DVC
Still love these subs. Had them for 3 years and will be keeping them to keep costs down on the new build. I don't really need that much bass response anymore (getting older), but they do just fine with the volume adjusted. Plus they sound great.
Here's the cost rundown:
PG RSD's - $87.00 shipped
Cadence 3002 - $111.99 shipped
Cadence 750D - $135.00 shipped
Pioneer 305DVCx2 - Freebie (paid $140 for the pair years ago)
I'll most likely pull the trigger on this Cadence amp tonight, just have to think about it for a few first. I realize I'm not building anything special, but for a budget setup I think I did great. Just looking for some feedback as I've never used PG comps OR Cadence amps. Anyone in the know, feel free to comment.
