good amp producing alternator whine

I have an amp that has had the remote lead from the stereo come off and touch the ground. I saw the spark when it happened. The amp still works just fine, but produces the famous alternator whine now. Does anyone know how to fix this or does it have to go to an electronics shop to be fixed, or can it even be fixed? I know it has something to do with the ground inside the unit. Just dont know what.

Thanks.

I replaced the amp with another amp i had sittin in the garage. And everything worked fine with the other amp hooked up the same way. I dont understand the comments about head unit. Are you refering to the deck as "head unit". The problem isnt coming off the headunit or deck, its inside the amp its self. I diagnosed the problem back that far on my own.
