Others do assist with the server operations, not just me.chris, why do you always say "us" there is only one of you.

bah. I hate when I have to do that. But I do understand it and if it helps I would def. be willing. I would also be willing to be a donating member.or if you really think making the lounge for registered users only will hurt the forum, make guests have to type in an alphanumeric confirmation code so that that will weed out all of the spambots..

Somehow they get around this I suppose.or if you really think making the lounge for registered users only will hurt the forum, make guests have to type in an alphanumeric confirmation code so that that will weed out all of the spambots..
I would think it's not bandwidth, it's computing power and the ability of the hardware to serve up database queries, which is all this site does... If you overload the server it says "hey this is too much for me to handle"...No can do. Unless you can do the following:
Possible ways to fix issue:
Increase bandwith from current host (if possible).
Change host, bandwith is capable of keeping up with site's demands.
All the problems are coming from the host of the site. In simpler terms, this site is running from a server/host. That server/host is either slow, or its internet connection is slow and/or maxed. The only way to fix this issue is to address any or all of these problems.
users already registered wouldnt have to do that, only guests/lurkersbah. I hate when I have to do that. But I do understand it and if it helps I would def. be willing. I would also be willing to be a donating member.
i know how that goes. one time i was talking to this bot that i thought was a chick on yahoo for like half an hour. wow, did i feel stupid...They have to type in a code to join and reply to a confirmation email. Somehow they get around this I suppose.
better late than never, i say...At least he's actually acknowledging us now... and trying to do something about it.
Only took a month or so...

I gave two options. If it's not the bandwith, it's the host. And you said the CPU usage is high so it times out. How is mem usage? Is it just CPU usage? Have you done all the standard CPU usage troubleshooting? What about HDD space? All of these things will improve performance moderately (providing temp relief), but you probably have some program(s) that's being a pig.The bandwidth is fine, its the server cpu usage that is causing th issue. It spikes, then gives the server busy message, locks people out and calms down. If this didn't happen the load would continue to rise and could cause the server to crash, which would take much longer to get back going again. I hope to have this resolved asap. Whatever it takes I will get it done.
Honestly, everys single thing has been done to maximize the server to handle the load, that we know of. The memory is also maxed out. It's no slouch server - Dell Dual Xeon 4GB.I gave two options. Either way, between hardware and software changes, I could fix this issue in a couple of hours. Is the server remote or something?
yea I got it a few minutes ago toolawl
and I just got the error message on this thread.
time to bulk that ***** up GooberHonestly, everys single thing has been done to maximize the server to handle the load, that we know of. The memory is also maxed out. It's no slouch server - Dell Dual Xeon 4GB.
