Goob - The Server Needs Immediate Attention Please!!!!

I think if I had any real chance of being voted in that likely you have equally as good of a chance to get it, Preston.

Our post counts are close enugh that we fall in the same bracket amongst the Top 50 (only 1K posts separate you and I) and you're just as well-known of an entity here on CA.com as I am.

Shoot - at this point Phat likely stands as much of a chance as anyone else considering how disgruntled the member base is with the ways things are being run (or failing to be run whichever is more accurate...)

i want one of these on a sidenote, just popped into my head.

While I appreciate the votes of confidence I have no desire to be a part of the moderation team. It is an incredibly thankless position and my very strict view of the world in terms of black&white (having nothing to do with ethnicity so don't even go there) and right&wrong would make me a very unpopular fella right quick.

Thanks but no thanks - even if by some odd chance of fate I was voted in? I would politely decline the position and refuse to be a part of it.
you sir are correct. i know this all too well.

Oddly enough it has come to my attention here in the last couple of hours that WhoSayWho and I eminate from very like backgrounds in terms of the way we were raised. It makes considerable more sense to me now why he and I think very much alike on so many topics.

I would love to be a mod. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif But being an 06er and only 500 posts lessens my chances big time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Its okay to dream though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Goob, Why not start a nomination thread to get the ball rolling?
n00bx.

wtf....i was prolly in the top 50 lol not no moreeeee
No, no you weren't.

you know, it also has to do with how much time people have spent here and how to work the forum, not just what they know audio wise.
Indeed.

I do agree to an extent. Although i think it should have to do with activity. Not nessicarally who has the highest post count, but who is on the most. I can think of several people, not just mods, that have very high post counts, but are never on. It kind of defeats the purpose to have moderators that are never there to... moderate.
Also it would be nice to have a night owl as a mod too. I was on at 4 and 5 the other night when that one guy was spamming the forum with massive .gif's. But there was nobody to talk to about it... you know because they were doing what normal human beings do... sleep.
Yup, CONTINUOUSLY active people help. You know, ones who don't disappear two months after they've been elected...

shameless self-promotion never ceases to amaze me.
Well, whoever started the ball rolling... you'll no doubt see A LOT of it now... it always happens.

*sigh*

Mike? Has the thought ever crossed your mind that perhaps the reason you're so unpopular as a mod is due to the fact that you bring it on yourself through the direct effect of your actions?

I have no beef with your personally. I'll even publicly state that my bet is that outside of this forum you're probably a pretty likeable fella.

But within the confines of CA.com? You let your pseudo-mod powers go to your head and I'll wager there isn't a person here who has been a regular participant for any appreciable length of time that will disagree with me.

Since Goob has already stated that a new mod election is on the list of things to do I'll additionally wager that your days as moderator here in any capacity are numbered. Through whatever agreement you and he have that allows your limited moderation abilities perhaps I am wrong - but if you retain said powers it will decidedly not be because the member base voted you back in. You're ban-happy, Mike, and it angers many people greatly.

Are all of the bannings that you see fit to enact unwarranted? Certainly not. I feel confident enough to guess that more than a few of them were completely legitimate actions that needed to be done.

On the flipside of that same coin, however, how many times have we seen you ban someone simply because you didn't like what they had to say? Mike disagrees with someone so *POOF!* away they go. No TOS violations, no Forum Rules violations, just that Mike didn't like what they had to say or disagreed with their view on this topic or that so Begone With Them! It's generally less popular members so you don't catch huge amounts of flack for it but that doesn't make the uncalled-for banning any less wrong. I've called you out about this on multiple occasions myself.

No, do not ask me for any specific examples as I cannot recall any at the moment and do not care enough to go searching for them. If you are any degree of honest with yourself you'll know exactly what I am talking about - several times over.

But this is merely one man's opinion and maybe the case is that I am alone in my view on this...but I'll bet that isn't the case...

WHAT'S NEW???!?!?!?

You're just the first person who has put it ever so eloquently Jon.

We've argued this point COUNTLESS times, in public... and in the backroom. There was even a time, twice I think... when he was going to resign... and past elections when he just wanted his own power removed. I thought it was about time he manned up, and just realized he was NOT wanted.

But, boy was I wrong, he wasn't even man enough to keep his promise or follow through with it. Who woulda thunk it?!? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif.

Like you said, I'm more than certain I wouldn't have a problem in day-today real life... but here... I sure do.
