Going to the Fire academy

I'm excited to go. My father is a fire fighter, and he started when he was 18. So I have decided to keep the family tradition going and go to the fire academy. I am going to find out more information tomorrow on where I should go and when I can go. A friend of my fathers is a fire instructor so he is going to help me out a lot with this. I'm excited.

Once I get out, I will still be living with my mother and i'll be raking in the cash to get my car some major upgrades, really - really fast. I can't wait It will most likely get a new engine, a complete redone interior and possibly a new paint job/wheels. If this all works out, I wll be very happy

my dad went to a fire academy in Maryland recently, because he is a firefighter of 13 years here in flint. he said it was alot of class work, but worth it.

Ive got 3 more classes before I get my Fire Science associates degree.

Great profession but very hard to get into.

good luck with your career choice. Let us know how it goes. I did not know that there was a such thing as a fire academy. All all firefighters are volunteers around here.

Depends on area. They start at 40g a year here...

Ive seen some areas start at 25g a year.

bigger cities pay firefighters..a small township will have volunteer

Yep, a lot of it IS in overtime.
