Going from SPL to SQL

Well for the new truck I've decided to get away from straight thump and go for more of a SQL install since my current setup sounds like *** with any rock or country playing.

here is what I've come up with so far:

HU: Clarion DXZ865MP

Front Stage(Front Doors and Under Dash): Diamond Audio 8" Mid, Diamond Audio 4.5" Mid, and Image Dynamics CD2 Mini Horns

Mid/Rear(Rear Doors): Diamond Audio D971 Comp Set(Still debating on if this is needed or not)

Speaker Amps: Orion HCCA-D1200 for 8" mids & Orion HP-4600 for Horns and 4.5"s

Subs: 2 18" RE Audio SXs

Sub Amp: 1 Orion HCCA-D5000

220A Alternator, 1 Red Top, 1 Yellow Top, 2 Runs of power and 2 runs of ground 1/0 wire

that seems like a pretty solid SQL setup. I'm getting more and more away from the SPL setup to a SQL setup. What should I do for a EQ? Will the HU EQ be enough?

I'm open to all suggestions.

The horns are not a definate as I'm new to active setups and what not. I would like to run an 8" in the front doors for mids and in the rear door also for mids because I have people that ride back there quite often.

as far as the rear door\mid? no that is not needed. my setup gets loud a f*ck with cd2's and just 6.5's. as long as you crossover the 8\4.5\horn right it should sounds great, but if the 8 can play up to like 1.5khz - you really dont need the 4.5 - but if the 8 is wicked inefficent, might as well - specially if you have all this stuff already.

as far as the SX18's? i would ditch them REAL quick. SX = SPL, IMO nothing else. get a pair of stereo integrity magnum 15's and a nice sealed box. they still get loud as hell, and that amp sounds like it should be able to do 1\2ohm right (cuz mags only come in dual2ohm)?

Might want to reconsider 2 x 18" SX if you leaning away from SPL. 15" XXX would be more SQL

So a no go with the Clarion unit? and the rear door speakers are not need? Thats good. Less money to dump into them. The 8" mid is an actualy subwoofer from the Diamond Audio D3 line that I'm gona use as a mid.

I haven't purchased any of this stuff yet except for the 18s. I have one already. I might just leave it in my explorer and then start a new in the burban.

JL W7's and Adire Audio Brahma's were the best in SQ last time I was looking for a sub.... I haven't seen people talking about them since I started lurking around here in the last couple days though.... both come in 15"s and both handle 1000W+ RMS
