Going from 18XXX to 2 12's..opinions?

I have a 18" RE XXX that wangs real good and everything... but it doesnt hit most of the levels i would want it to with what i have for an amp anymore. Im not looking to spend anymore money in car audio for another amp or anything, i was thinking to trade my 18 for 2 12's straight up. It would cost about $100 to ship it and id want to get around 300 out of it, so for $400 shipped i could sell it, either way id want to trade for 2 12's around 150 each. What do you think my best bet would be? this answer is probly different for every person that reads this but i want to get the best wang for my buck. Ill be pushing around 400w to each of them, but might consider buying a little bit bigger amp if the sub requires more.

i drive a dodge avenger, it is impossible. When i say impossible... i mean it with a capital IMPOSSIBLE. It takes me a good 45 mins to an hour just to get my sealed box in/out of my car it fits so tight. And no, im not tearing my backseat out and building the box inside my car or any of that.... lookin to move down to 2 12's, the 18 wangs real hard and everything but i just dont have a big enough amp for it anymore and its a little overkill on the low lows.

You guys dont understand... i dont want the 18 anymore. i want to trade it for something smaller that doesnt make me want to puke everytime it hits a low note and rattles every brain cell outa my head. I want to get 2 12's, the only reason i mentioned the 18 is because i want to trade it straight up for some 12s, but i really dont know what to look for. I want something that hits the lows, but the 18 doesnt hit highs at all, and i miss that.
