going from 1000 to 1600 watts

Would there honestly be any difference going from 1000watt rms kixker @2ohms to 1600 watts on a clarion @ 2ohms? I asked a friend of mine and he said there would be no audible difference what so ever, so how does adding more wattage to my 12" Q (w/ BP) make a difference if any difference at all?

Double the wattage is ~3db's.

So more than likely you won't hear a huge difference.

I'll say the added power could gain you 1.5-2 db if your current stays @ 14.4

yeah, i made that exact change before, not huge, you can hear it a littel but nothin significant. go 1000-4000.... you can tell the diference there.

idk, i went from a kicker 750.1 to a mtx 81001. only 250 watts but a huge diff in output to my ear. maybe the mtx is way underrated or cuz i did big 3 but i just think its a lot louder with the mtx. my .02

I wouldn't go clarion over kicker..but that's just my opinion.

Is it worth it? That's up to you.

Improvement in SPL? probably a little assuming the sub can make use of it.

Other than power is there anything about the Clarion you just LIKE?

I changed amps for no change in power at all and couldn't have been happier -- I just liked the new amp better.
