Going ACtive, please help

I have the Alpine CDA-9857 & PXA H-701 run to a JL 300/4 and 500/1. For fronts I am using CDT HD-6 with CDT ES-01 tweets, the rears are memphis MCSQ 6.5 component set, the subds are ED 11KV2' in ported emclosure.

I am currently using the memephis x-overs (passive) for both front and rear, what does it mean to go active? Using the built ion H-701 x-over and no passiver x-overs and if so wouldnt I need an amp for the mids and tweets seperate? So I would need another 300/4 to run the rears?

Please help me understand this.

Well, most people that go active don't run rear fill. By the time you're at that stage, rear fill is pretty pointless.

But, to answer your question, yes you would need another amp to run your rears.
